Sooo, how well do rabbits do around chickens? My brother-n-law just bought 2 and gave them to my son for his bday. They're hanging out in my brooder/grow-out pen til we thaw enough to build a hutch.

I found a model 1202 gqf and understand it was probably made in the 80s or 90s. Is an incubator that old safe? I mean If it has been taken care of of course.

Just check the wiring and test it before you buy it. Most are easy to work on I would think. I hear people working on them to make repairs all the time.

I would like to buy a cabinet type incubator. Anyone use a GQF 1202? Any opinions or experience with this model?

They are excellent incubators. I have 10 of the GQF incubators, probably half of them are the older 1202. Really there are only 3 things that can go wrong with them and they are easy to fix, the turning tray motor, the thermostate, (or wafers, depending on what kind of heat this model has) and the fan and motor.. If you go to look at one tell them to have it plugged up and running, check to make sure it is keeping correct temperature, use the switch on the side and make sure the trays turn, and make sure the fan is turning. That is really all you need to check, If you put a fertile egg in these it will hatch, I get at least a 95% hatch rate in all of mine.

I had one that I temporarily housed with my juvey peahens. They did well together except that the rabbit developed a taste for their feathers and nibbled their tail feathers. He never hurt them just ate the ends of their feathers. I got his pen finished in a hurry though.

I have rabbits, chickens, geese and ducks. I would not recomends to have rabbits with anything. Just my two cents for what it's worth

Uh oh :/ I was thinking temporary housing but they'll just have to hang out in the grow-out pen for a little while.

My Marans are starting to prove why I call them Morons. They stood out in the sleet yesterday just looking up like "huh, what's this?" That pair is lucky to be alive. We had a cat get after them and they walked right up to him.
