The Middle Tennessee Thread

Hi all,
I live in the Cumberland City area. I'm looking for some Narragansett Turkeys, poults or hatching eggs that I could pick up without driving too far. I'd also like to find some Barred Rocks, Welsummers, or RIR hens locally. I keep an eye on CL, but not having any luck so far.
I have some Blue Barred Rock Hens on CL. They are from GSBR lines I crossed blues into about 3 years ago. I am also going to have chicks in a couple of weeks from them. I think @CityGirlintheCountry has Welsummers..... I don't know anyone with RIR..... OH I do.... why cant I think of her name on here... she will pop in soon. She has HRIR near Fall Creek Falls area. Someone had Buckeyes too..... (feed stores might have some production reds by now)

Yup. I have wellies, but I don't have any available right now. They are all starting to ramp up again and I'll start hatching in a couple of weeks. Technically you can tell male from female at birth, but I really stink at it. :)

Good morning all. I enjoy reading about everyone's chickens, learning all the time. All of my girls have survived the past year and are doing great so thinking about adding some more to the group. Also think I am going to get an incubator this weekend and try hatching some myself. I have been looking very closely at the eggs as they are used and so far looks like they have all been fertile

, so think I might have to try this.

I am near FCFpark but no RIR, I _did_ have a wonderful SQ/H Buckeye Trio until a pack of dogs tore through the fence (one of the dogs was apparently part Great Pyrn. the fence had withstood everything for 4 yrs but that dog ripped heavy wire apart 4 ft off the ground). So no more Buckeyes :(

I do have a lovely Trio of H. BR w/ test eggs in the bator right now if the hunt was for heritage type birds, and I have a ton of very productive EEs , I've got 4wk old chicks & eggs in the bator from both my F1 blue&green egg laying gals , and some brown egg layers under CL Roos for F2 blue/green layers and some OEs .

I did move breeding pens around Sunday !! Will have pure Cream Legbars and pure SFH in a few weeks, very excited!

But no RIR or even production reds atm.

I think the Rutherford Co-op has Production Reds or red sex links and perhaps RIR chicks. I did a quick walk through on Saturday and they had something along those lines.

but it is fun. I have some in the bator now some are mine (blue copper marans, and golden cuckoo marans) and some are cream legbars and then when they hatch i have my eyes on some golden cuckoo marans eggs so my roo can have a few hens.

ETA and when they grow out I can make some olive eggers and I think I will have most all colors for my eggs
