You can find them cheaper than that.  Someone has some on FB for $3-4000 for a pair.... no bites yet LOL.

I don't think I would buy a bird that expensive from some random person on Facebook unless I knew people who had dealt with them before. So lemme rephrase that. I found a place I would trust that had them for 4999. Lol
Regardless I want a pair

How many did you get and what genders?

I have about 20+ hatching eggs coming this week. I want a whole passel of them! LOL. I think my eggs are going to be fertile soon but still I have too many eggs so I traded for them LOL. Maybe I will get that elusive CREAM roo.

Just thought I'd mention that I have found another breed of chicken I want. Unfortunately they are $4999.00 a pair. I'd so pay it if I had it!

Ayam Cemani

Maybe you should try some Black Olmec Quechua. They are South American decendants of the Ayam Cemoni. They are cold adapted, have pea combs and lay colored eggs. GrannyChicks55 has them. I costs $65 dollars for a dozen shipped.

Read here for the historey https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/402512/quechua-tojuda-ameraucana-easter-eggers-in-vino-veritas/10

out of 18 eggs 14 were fertile and hatched all 14. 5 boys and 9 girls...what luck!! one boy died uknown the second day and I sold a pair. so I am down to 3 boys and 8 girls. These seemed really easy to hatch I think it was the first time I ever hit 100% hatching rate usually one or two doesn't. Oh yeah one of your super blue egglayers from an october hatch has started to lay a blue pullet egg, even had a double yolker. I also have one hen maybe from your lav pen looks pure Black Ameraucana. I like the CCL they do lay some big pretty eggs. You will have to let us know what comes out of that huge egg you are setting.

All my POL pullets are $20 MINIMUM. That would be for like a WL or Reg breeds like RIR or BR. (my BR are higher they are Heritage). Most of my birds are $25, $35, $50 and up for like a Choc Eng Orp Pullet. Chickens really cost to get to POL.

I was talking with @TinTennessee and he has like 13-15 laying chickens. Uses 50# of feed a month. I got through 50# - 100# of feed a week in a brooder with 20 started birds. I fill up a cat litter bucket about every 3 days. They are HOGS with feed through the teens.
$20 for a POL pullet is a good price, we get 25-30 for barnyard mixes and $30 and up for our other birds. Yes chicks are hogs, teens are more of a hog. I agree Donna it cost a small fortune to raise birds. We go through 12-15 bags of feed most weeks.
