Goodness, Matlock, give yer m-i-l a hug from me, would ya? That's an awful disease (I had it, too) and not uncommon to experience 'unexplained pain' even months/years later. A neighbor had it the year before me and he spent 6 months on antibiotics and had horrible reactions to the treatment. I did a bunch of natural remedies, it took 2 months, with NO reactions at all. You might want to suggest she do a couple supplements now to prevent any 'residual' effects!

It's so cool to see someone so excited about eggs/chicks! Don't forget to post pics of the hatching and let us enjoy along with you, Ok? Have fun with it!

Believer- Thanks! This is my first experience with a broody hen and first time hatching eggs. Very exciting. I play in a rock band here in M'boro. We play mostly original music. This is my first gig with this band. I used to play a ton in college, then got married and had a kid and didn't play much for a while. It's a six piece band, 3 guitars, sax, bass and drums. We're playing at The Boro Bar and Grill tonight at 9:30pm.

Tracy - Thanks! She's my wife chicken and a very large and pretty Buff Orp. Congrats on the coop facelift. I plan on changing the exterior walls on my coop this summer. I put cheap plywood up but that's gotta be replaced. Just doesn't look very nice. I built it in a day and a half and it was my first attempt so I'm learning on the fly.

Matlock - Glad you're hatch is going well! It's nice to see another guy on here too. I'm hoping to make it to the next meet up now that school's out. (I teach High School Economics) That's terrible about your wife and tick disease. Guineas are really good tick eaters.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Thanks again to Raven and CityGirl for the eggs!!!

Wow, Tish, I just checked out Cpl. Mason's facepage........just what I needed, red eyes and a stuffy nose! He sounds like an awesome person. Was he a friend of you all?

Minuteman, I love that stuff. Have used it for years: on dogs/cats to kill fleas, under couch cushions and rug for same; on/around plants to protect against bugs; and now in the coop and on my girls! I know the package says to wear gloves but in nearly 20 yrs its never bothered me beyond a slightly dry affect on the skin. I just don't breath it or let it get in my animals faces!

Ah crud! I just added 2 bantam Cochin hens from the chickencoop to my collection

all in my efforts to improve my bantam cochin's so now I'm going to have to part with a few more of mine. One is black mottled and then I got a buff columbian to add to the Mille Fleur pen.
I should not be allowed near a computer

Sorry haven't been following much. I found out my grandmother passed last night. She was the reason I moved to Tennessee

very sad. And to top it off my barn kitty for the passed few days had been lethargic passed away also. She did live long enough so her kittens are fine on their own. But she was my favorite of all time cat.

. So a not so great weekend for me *sigh*. I am working tomorrow to keep my mind busy while waiting for family to get in. But... I do thank all the veterans without them we would not have our freedom in this great country of ours!!
