The Middle Tennessee Thread

well taking the water out to drop the humidity seems to be working. This morning all 5 air cells show an increase in size. I'm gonna continue letting the water dry out till I can get them where I feel 100% better about them. Thanks for you replies.
Now off to get rid of these kids for the night.

Heh CityGirl, good to hear your "voice," LOL! Hope everything is going well down your way.

Happy hatching to all of you who are still workin' them eggs! We want to see lots of chick pics when they pop.

And . . . if anyone needs a good incubator setup, I have my setup posted for sale. It's a great deal. I just need to de-clutter, and I have been pretty happy with my broody hens.

If you do want to buy and pick 'er up here in Mount Juliet, I'll waive the shipping.

Whew! Stay cool out there. I have been making chick-sicles (frozen trays/bowls of ice with fruit/berries inside) and pup-sicles (ice blocks made in Chinese takeout trays with a dog biscuit in the middle). The critters just love those on hot days! Pop those out into the yard on a hot afternoon and let them go to town.

So I have another question for all you experienced hatchers. Should I hatch in egg cartons in the upright position with pointy end down, or on their side as they have incubated? Just wondering what works for you. The water bowl is dry now and I'm running at about 33% humidity, think I'll just leave it alone now and see how things go.
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Now that me and the wife have the house to ourselves, I certainly am.

I love my boys, but breaks are so welcome... they argue alot.

Wow... I didn't realize you were in Mt. Juliet. That's where my boys are today with their Granny. I looked at your auction post this morning too. It's tempting, but I just can't justify spending $100.00 on a styrofoam box. If mine doesn't work I'll probably go ahead and save up to buy one, but I really have high hopes on this one for now.
But... you did make a very convincing argument.

Ok folks, HELP! I am so worried about my little chicks. One in particular, my son's favorite. It's poo has always been a bit watery, but now it's just weird. Sorry for a gross picture, but better to see than explain it.

This is not a cecal poo, they are always like this. I'd say it's an orangish color and maybe a little foamy?

She always sits down in our hands, which the others don't do. Thought it was sweet at first, but now I'm wondering if it's because so ethnic is wrong with her.

Please tell me what to do, I'm so worried.

Think I'll go post in emergencies as well....
