THanks, y'all. I love the blue chickens.

Tracy- chickens do weird poops. They change it up all the time. I have some babies out in the silkie pen that periodically are doing that kind of poop. As long as they are eating and drinking and zipping around like normal than I usually just chalk it up to random weird poopiness. If the chick is lethargic or not eating/drinking than I would start worrying. Are they on medicated chick starter?
Yogurt is one of the first treats I give my chicks. They love it and it is a good way to bribe them.

Holly- thanks for the confirmation. I figured you would know.

Glad you and the kids are starting to feel better.

1newegg- why do we not have pictures of your new babies? Weren't you the one that scored a grow out pen from a friend? How's that project coming along?

Y'all be careful out there. It is supposed to be wretchedly hot again all week. I am tired of this nasty heat!

morning all .... trying to convince myself to get out there and do some things 'fore it gets too hot. Not doing real well on that just yet...

Love the chick, City Girl. Such an intriguing color. Glad you said that to Tracy bout the weird poops, cuz I've bout decided that my 2 are just weird poopers. Everything else seems normal and this has been going on long enough that there should be some indication of illness if they were truly sick. I'll try to get over to your place soon, ok?

Holly, I'm scrounging materials to divide the coop/pen today!!! Would Wed or Thur be ok to come get my girls?

Ok, here goes ~ I'm heading out the door ~ I'm heading out ~ I really am ~

Morning everyone! The storm that blew through here yesterday brought some blessed relief from the heat, didn't it?? Niiiiice.

Hey CityGirl, love your blue lady! I agree, she is a she, LOL! Very nice. Hope all is going well down your way.

Tracyree, I agree with the others re. your bird's poos. Some are just weird poopers. Their general appearance and behavior is probably the best guideline.

For those of you who might be having ant problems this season - - and who also hate insecticides - - I recently discovered that ants hate my Oxine spray. I keep a bottle of Oxine (bleach) mixed with water at a very strong cleaning strength underneath my sink, and when I came in to the kitchen and found ants on the shelf I grabbed the bottle and just started spraying. It seems to mess up their scent trails, and it kills ants too. And no worries about getting harmful chemicals near my food! Just wipe up and I'm good to go. Hope that helps!

Enjoy the day, everyone!

Hey everyone! Just checking in!
Citygirl - what a beautiful girl!! Love the neck scruff - very regal!

We revamped our coop this weekend. We had used pine shavings on the floor and while that made for an okay floor in the colder weather I did not like the flies that seemed to come from all over into our coop in this heat. So we redid it all with sand. The girls, once they got over their initial "what the heck is this on my floor???" reaction, LOVED the sand!! Funniest sand baths ever!!! And just like typical girls that they are, the baths lasted a long while!

Are we having a mini meet-up in June?

Thanks for the reassurance about my weird pooper everyone. The only other thing I see is that she sits down more than the others. When we hold her, she sits in our hands. Thought it was super sweet at first, but then just started to wonder if something could be wrong.

Being super careful as she is my 6 year old's favorite and he's had some tough breaks lately.

Thanks again all

Jenski....lol...I'm glad to bring humor...at least a lil....in a world like this sometimes it's just easier to laugh at something when you feel like crying....not that I do now, but i'm sure everyone has had moments like that....as for the roo's...I need them for a few lonely lil hens..lol... Thanks for the tip on the oxide by the way...the ants here are driving me batty...lol...

Believer1...there is a link under breeds about buckeyes if you wanted to research them a lil more.....

I'd love to see pics of everyone's renovated coops!!!!

Hi all! Just finished putting together a new brooder for my four girls. What do you think?

Even more exciting is that my coop renovation is done!! I'll get pictures soon. Now it just needs to be moved to where we want it and the run built.

I'm so ready for them to move outside. Of course it's too stinkin hot. When do you all think they can go outside? They are only almost 2 weeks now.

Hey Brown chicka
I just noticed you're from Waverly/Mcewen... what kinds of chickens do you have? I'm in White Bluff, and I'm happy to find someone a little closer to me on this thread.
I have ancona's, speckled sussex, buff orps, and some here and there bannies. None of those will start laying till the end of the summer. I also have 5 EEx in my incubator right now, hopefully I get some to hatch.
Sam
