Got a good surprise yesterday when I discovered our Sumatra hen is actually a rooster! And that we have a breeding pair of Golden Campines! We ordered ours from Meyers back in Feb as the rare breed assortment and they are just now reaching the age of being able to look and see what they are. Still unsure about 2 of the breeds but the hens and roos and sorted.

You are having more than your share of hardship with chickens. I have had 1 chicken a week for 3 weeks die of no apparent reason and been questioning my fitness as a chicken mom. Having 5 lay down and die and then the flash flood getting your barred rocks would be really hard. So sorry.

We have never flooded that bad before. Not only did it kill my chickens. It took out both my horse pasture fencing. I had to chase 2 scared ponies all over creation finally had to call the sheriff Cuz we had gotten about 2 miles from home. It's just me and my 11 yr old boy this week. Finally got one of the fences fixed enough to hold them and went to check on my chickens only to discover the deaths. our truck broke down on monday. I'm so ready for this week to be over. I need a drink.

Who wanted some Barred Rock Cockerels? I have 2 and my hubby's Nephew is supposed to come to Nashville Saturday if not hopefully soon. Maybe I can send them back with him to Cookeville..... I just can't remember who wanted them.

I finally got (my 6 yr old sons) Nankins! So excites to start breeding them to standard. These are my first bantams and are the only known natural bantam. They are also on the critical list so we are going to try to contribute to breeding them back up and into the standard. I believe my trio are within standard but haven't found the SoP yet to make sure (if anyone can point me to that it would be apprieciated, its not in the 2010 book BC they were added in 2012) These are suck sweet birds I just had to share them with you guys.
