The Middle Tennessee Thread

DMRippy, you were right!! I have a purebred Ameraucana roo 28 weeks that I would like to re-home in middle TN. He has outsmarted his no-crow collar, and although he's not very loud AT ALL turns out our new neighbor in the house we just purchased work nights. Our boy crows during the day.

He's so good looking and docile, bit protects the girls, I think it would be a shame to cull like we did with our mean Dominique roo.

I would consider a free re-home worn the promise of hatching eggs against him and BBS Ameraucana hens or blue chicks in the spring.

Any takers? We are in Nashville.

Wow! I would jump on him in a heart beat if I could sneak him past my DH. I only have Olive Eggers (though they are blue). I also have 3 roo chicks (Soup, Fried and Baked) and one roo juvie that hasn't crowed yet. (When they crow they go.) I have a special chick that is probably going to turn out to be a roo that I don't want to give up. (It thinks it is a quail because it has been brought up with the quail chicks so far.) I lost my black hen, Raven, so I want to keep the blue juvie female to replace her. I have two black girl chicks that are fully feathered. (I think about 4 or 5 weeks old. I lost count.

) So if anyone is wanting a pair of poults that are 5 and 6 weeks old PM me. One of them is free ranging with her mom. The other is in the brooder with Soup, Fried, and Baked. Had an egg explode under my broody after the first one hatched so I washed them with bleach water and culled and put the rest in the incubator to hatch and got 4 of them to finish a week later.
These are the results of mating F1 to F1 of a Marans/Ameraucana cross. The mothers are blue and the roo is a silver laced black duckwing that carries blue (feathering). Until the female juvie lays I can't swear about him carrying the blue egg gene.

These are the two mothers Cinder and Little

This is the roo Long John Silver So far he has turned out 4 Silver chicks (all roos), 1 blue chick (female), 3 black chicks (2 female, 1 male) and one chick of a strange coloring so far. (Reddish along the head and back and bluish under neath. Don't know what sex yet.

So if anyone is interested in the 2 pullets PM me.

Years ago my mom left a broiler in my yard recused from flying off a chicken truck. I used the purple kote to spray the maggots in her bottom, killed them--and didn't eat chicken for over a year because of the condition she was in. Now I would treat once with H2O2, and then purple kote.

I still have the two black pullets. I can send some photos after I get off of work at 10 tonight.

Wow everyone must be busier than one-armed paper hangers. No posts in 2 days! Those two black pullets I mentioned are Olive Eggers. If you pick up the free Americana blue roo you could have olive eggs for sure and since the black pullets are out of blue moms you would have a large portion of your chicks come out blue of some form or another.

Im moving to Maynardville in the next day or so. Once I have the pens built I would take them in a heart beat.
