OMG I love my guineas!! We have only lost 2 of the original 10. They go everywhere the yard, the pasture and eat the bugs. They can make all the noise they want as long as they eat bugs.

I too live my guineas and would like more, but I have other things I have to buy first. We bought a few at the auction house, but one has a broken leg that healed improperly. I'm not fond of this auction house.

@DMRippy, what feed store do you use? I live our local one, but I'm thinking I'd like to check into non GMO feeds and they have none.

Also, what kinds of pigs does everyone have? I was thinking about making a Guinea Hog\ Tamworth cross. Has anyone done that already?

I use Tuckers. They just came out with a GMO free feed. I get it at Bonnies Barnyard. She is great!

I have mini pigs!!
I know that is not what you were asking... we had a Red Wattle/Tamworth cross that we processed this last spring and I can't say enough good things about the difference in heritage hogs verses commercial hogs the meat is exceptional.

I met Donna yesterday in Crossville and picked up my new girls. It was great to meet her and I love my new girls!!

I hope you get LOTS of enjoyment out of them! Sorry we couldn't stay and talk but it was nice to meet you too!

Oooh, what did you get?

By the way, Donna, I still adore my little Silkie cockerel! He's fabulous, my daughter carries him around like a little baby :love And he's already started breeding the girls!

Good! Your little ones are doing very well too!

JLynnp got some Orps from me. I still have LOTS and LOTS of Orps. Most are Jubilee Crosses and are just visually black. I have a few Blue Jubilee cross Cockerels too. They are leaking red.

I took home a Porcelain Cockerel (I had a pullet) and 2 Showgirls (they were no part of the plan but when someone says FREE I took them LOL) The white one is a hen and the black one is a cock. Glad it was not the other way around. LOL. I don't have ANY white pullets/hens and 3 cocks/cockerels.

Next spring I should have pens of

Buff
Partridge
Black
Blues
Paints
Porcelains
Whites

Showgirls in Blacks and whites and Frizzle black and partridge maybe.

I'm glad to hear they're doing well, I bet they've changed a lot!

Ooooh, fun stuff. You're going to have a ton going on! My only big plan for next spring is try to breed mottled into my Sizzles. Which, considering I'll have to use a Cochin to get that color, is going to set me back some on my progress. But, I want what I want :P
Frizzled showgirls would be interesting (in a creepy sort of way, sorry, most people think they're SO cute but they give me the heebie jeebies :hide ).
