The Middle Tennessee Thread

Honestly, I did not know it was possible! I bet she was tired and relieved after that effort. Checked her out and she is in good shape!

You are right there! I have a big mitt for a left hand and that egg took up better than half the area. The egg next to was a grade A Extra Large size, imagine had I had a pullet egg as a reference?

Greetings, all! I just joined the forums the other day and wanted to stop in and post.

My wife and I are in rural Nolensville and are going to start our first flock early next year.

I have quite a bit of catching up to do (on this thread as well as others) and I look forward to learning as much as I can from you all.

Take care!

Yes...I have several Doubles, but my wife has kept the egg refrigerated for a few days now. She has not opened it yet, but I will announce the results when she dose.

Disappointment....only a Double in this huge egg shell. What is worse...it was a fertile egg and I could have incubated it! Shucks!

I can't wait, the suspense is getting to me. I sometimes wonder if I should see a psychologist for my "chicken problems", then I think "Nah, I'm good" lol
it really hit that I was hooked when my broody hen came off the nest too early last spring, due to an unplanned staggered hatch. I then brought the rest inside and rigged up my own incubator with a basket, washcloth, meat thermometer, and a brooder heat lamp. Thanks to some fine folks on here for helping me out on that one. My wife and daughter asked me if I was going to set on them myself. Then I knew it was over from there.
