I see ya'll are really into the silkies and such, but does anybody know where I can get some fertile turkey eggs or maybe even a pair that is local? I really want to get them locally because it seems like folks who incubate have an especially hard time with the shipped turkey eggs, not to mention, there ain't much to pick from right now. My son wants some so bad he can't stand it, because we have a couple wild turkeys that come right close to our house, but they'll never let you get more than 20 feet or so away from them. He thinks they're great, but they run from him, he wants some friendlies. Any ideas at all?
My 7 year old wants a cow while i'm asking.

On a side note... the guy I made the poop pan for his chicken coop came back to the metal shop today, I made him an egg door cover all complete with 45 degree angles so he could just wrap his plywood, and I also made him some trim for his door and his vents. He's a contractor who's determined to have his hen house featured in Southern Living, ( not to mention he's English, which makes it more fun! ) I think he might stand a chance. I'll be quick to tag my work when he does!

CityGirl . . . you're not leaving. We won't discuss it further.

matlock . . . very, very cool that you are a metalworker. I greatly admire folks who can do stuff like that. Bet CityGirl does too. She's a clever chick.
Keep us posted when you become famous, and don't forget your freaky chicken buddies.

SimplySplendid, I am sending peace and loving energy to Grandpa. He is already making the Journey; just be patient and allowing of his passage. If your family can also be allowing of his passage, it will also be very helpful since he may be concerned about those he is leaving behind. How wonderful, though, to have someone so special waiting for him! Be at peace.

White Bluff is in Dickson county, just west of Nashville. I'm in the Charlotte, Ashland City, Dickson, Pegram, Kingston springs, Fairview kind of area. where is the auction you talk about? I really don't have money for anything right now, but it's getting approval from the first lady as an investment!

The biggest poultry sale this weekend is at Elkton ,Ky,Bluegrass Stables auction. It would be a drive for you but if you like birds it would be worth it. A little bit of everything comes thru there, fro high dollar stuff to run of the mill stuff. At this time of year you can get some good bargains.
