Got our first egg yesterday and number 2 today!!!!! Whoo hoo! I was starting to think we wouldn't get any this year.

How's everyone doing? I have two gorgeous blue silkie cockerels from Tish (simplysplendidsilkies) that need a good home or homes. I adore them, but can't keep Roos. They were hatched mid July and haven't started crowing yet, but I'm pretty sure they are boys.

Oh wow this weekend has been great weather! My birds free range all weekend

I like how bright it is in the mornings now that we have fallen back and the chickens go up in the coop at 5 so I can close them up and have the rest of the evening unobstructed for me

I wish the weather was like this all year. The chickens will get to free range a couple more days before cold and rain I hope. They love the freedom, and I love being able to let them have it.

Just the layers though...not the show birds. In the case of a chicken hawk its alot harder to replace a show quality girl then a commercial rhode island red

I think I have 3 Marans laying now and one of my girls that has been molting laid a JUMBO egg for me

No when those pullets I got from Holly start laying, eggs will be plentiful! Breeding pens run panels are made and ready to put up! Life will be good, roos will have plush new digs for the winter and the girls will soon follow...when I have enough laying eggs for eating.

Congrats on the eggs! and anything else I may have missed

We got booted to page 2 so thought I had better stop by for a minute.Hopefully everyone has been like me and taking advantage of this beautiful weather to get some of those things done on our list.I got another 4 hole rabbit cage built for the new rabbits and have several litters due now.
Now..those broody hens they never quit.I have broodies everywhere but none have fertile eggs...one has a bald molting roo in the pen and the others don't even have a roo.
Rain in the morning I predict the posts pick up
