We'll see....the comb is the same as all of the rest (except for the roo) and the feathering pattern looks to be the same - nothing is distinguishing it as a little fella to me. I guess time will tell....
Thank you Anne - I've got mama on the eggs, she's hunkered down and content. Hopefully she's in it for the long haul.
Question please - she came off the nest to do her business for the first time in 24 hours when I went down to put the eggs in. I'd thrown some corn for everyone near her coop, so all of the big girls were down there. As soon as she came out they attacked her - trying to hold her down, pecking and biting at her comb, jumping on top of her - almost like they didn't know her. She's been separate for going on 48 hours now. Is that normal? Poor baby, I chased them off and grabbed her up, and her comb was bleeding.
She happily went back into her nest (I'm sure partly to get away from the ugliness) and I scolded everyone else, naughty chickens. Is this going to be a long term problem do you suppose? Anything I can do?
