The Middle Tennessee Thread

I'll be working in my garden and putting new waterers in my chicken coop. But . . . if you meet anyone who wants Swedish Flower Hen roos - let me know.

I have a blue rock pullet from Donna - just started laying a few weeks ago - GORGEOUS bird!

New chick pics, the wife thinks i've gone chicken loco. I used to say " its a jeep thing you wouldnt understand." I still do but now i also say " its a chicken thing you wouldnt understand." Everybody is eating & drinking well, not constantly huddled under the heat lamp. I think my brooder setup is working well. Of corse my cat had to check them out. He's really laid back, and i think understands these are babies. I told him he had to help protect them & he slept on top of the brooder box last night. I wont leave him alone with them untill they get much larger.

hey Donna, your RIR are doing great. they love it here, but my EE roo took them right over. gotta try to get them separated this weekend. How long will their eggs be crossed? I intend to hatch from them, but don't want the EE in the mix.
It sure was nice to meet you and Doug, and I enjoyed our visit. Hope you did good at the trade days.

I would wait 3 weeks after you separate them to hatch. Glad to meet you too! I did OK, not great but ok.... Off to CL to put the rest of the chicks up for sale. I think I am going to sell the D'Uccles. I have 3 pullets and 1 roo. I just don't do bantams really and I could use that little pen as a grow out pen too. My next hatch is down to 94 eggs. There were a lot that were clear. It is all good.

I am not sure if I want to set this next batch of eggs.... if I had done better in Murfreesboro I would have, but now I am going to have the ones that didn't sell this next hatch and another.... I am thinking not.... we will see... If they sell well on CL I might set some more.
