Does anyone need a paint silkie roo? I hatched him from Catdance Silkies eggs. She is 'kelar' here on BYC. Will take a couple bags of Flock Raiser for him or cash (it goes with everything

).

eta: he is about 2 mos and will put up a pic this evening. Good feathering and body shape.

I also have 1 dozen of my silkies eggs which should all hatch white. They are in together but all the roos but one is white and I don't think the blue roo is high enough on the totem pole to be allowed near any of the hens. Same deal- a bag of feed or cash- can always use chick starter or 12% sweet feed.

Do you still have your Paint roo? I'm interested in pics as well. PM me with the cash amount if you do. Oh and your location as I'm on the Western side of Middle TN and like to know the distance. Thanks!

hey folks, hope you all are enjoying your holiday weekend.
I am trying to help my cousin find 2-3 laying hens for her home in the city. She has been trying to buy chicks all season, but she keeps getting roos.
Any one have a few to sell off? I don't think she too much cares about the breed, she just wants eggs.

PM'd you!

I've got some 12 week old production reds available. There are 6 out there needing a new home. You can PM me if she is interested. I think I still have a couple of olive eggers as well.

Does anyone here want a blue cochin rooster? A friend has one to give away. Apparently he is quite the ladies man and keeps sneaking into their silkie pen to have his way with the women. Since they are wanting to hatch pure silkies, Romeo is making them crazy!

They said he is free to a happy home.

Anne- Heidi was wanting cochins. He may be right up her alley.

Emma is waiting not so patiently for the girls to lay but the heat may be the reason we aren't getting eggs. We lost one of the wellies and 3 of the orps over the weekend due to the heat.

I foolishly tried to get tarps up during the worst of the heat on Sunday. I am an idiot. The process ended with me almost passing out and having to crawl to get back into the house. Everytime I stood up the world got spinny. At one point I was laying under the tree in the backyard with a dog hovering over me. It occured to me that I was stupid for many reasons.
A) for trying to do it in the hottest of the hot
B) not having any water out there with me
C) not having my cell phone on me

One of these days I will drop dead out in the yard and it will be days before someone comes to haul my carcas off.

I didn't have any losses, but only because I was lucky. Two of the three days the chickens were out ranging and they ranged themselves up under trees and bushes. They clearly have more sense than I do.

I'm glad you're okay! That's scary! Always keep your cell phone with you. I don't know how we got along so many years without them! I started to do some work in the garden yesterday, and I couldn't stand the heat. I told my husband I would just wait until next week when it's supposed to be cooler.

Yeah. I was being stupid. I had been out earlier in the morning and it wasn't so bad. It was just wretched at 1pm Sunday. I'm trying to get better about keeping the phone in my pocket. Ironically enough I just chewed my parents out for not keeping the phone on them when they were out and about. I guess it's payback.
