Oh and
welcome-byc.gif
to anybody I missed!

Lord What Am I Thinking ?

I want more chickens... I have looked under the wings, on the bottom of the feet, looked all about on their fuzzy butts no where have I found a warning... Caution chickens may be addictive

Below are some photo's that will clue you in to what the voices are suggesting I do. As you can see my nice sized garage 30x36 is currently being used for nothing more than a storage unit. I had planned on building some more coops and runs out back and the voices said Pssst Chad why not use the back part of your garage. So I said to myself...Self that sounds like a dandy idea. So the 3 of us sat down and did the pros and cons thing...lots of pros ! It would involve less labor and material plus all the cleaning, feeding, watering and future egg gathering could be done from the comfort of being inside the garage. With the runs out back and the coops inside I figure I can have 7 coops each being 5 x 8. The runs would be 5 x say 20 The garage always stays cooler and I have never seen it drop to below 40 degrees during the winter. I can already see 7 little chicken doors on the back of the garage. Now I just have to run it past the BOSS

Let me know how that copper comes in on her neck.... I have more than ever with copper on their neck and am very excited to see how they turn out. Great name!
I will.....she "talks" all the time and is very friendly. She is getting more copper, and more fuzz on her legs. I'll take a picture in a few months and let you see her.

You going to move the AC or just not use that run?

That is great. Mine is kinda that way in the front. I have 4 pens and the coops are in the central part. I can get the eggs feed and water from the central area. My breeding pens are all lined up like what you are talking about, but they are outside and no cover when I feed, water and collect eggs.

I do plan on moving the AC around the corner. I have an area up front I want to frame up a little office and have the AC in that. Thank You

Do y'all do anything special to keep your chicks cool in this awful heat? I'm new to chickens and I just don't want the poor dears dying in that heat! I'm in the Franklin area and where I live we didn't get a drop of rain either!
