That's about what I do too, I up my humidity a little more at lockdown 60%, and then it zooms up when they hatch. Actually I don't even watch the humidity in lockdown. I have it up and that is all that matters to me. The number does not seem to matter as much in lockdown. It is the first 18 days that really count.
So is 30 % humidity about where I need to be before lockdown, I have tried to gather info on this, CHEESE and RICE everybody says something different I'd pull my hair out if I had any,,,,Help Donna

Quote: I dry incubate, I think it works best. I don't let my humidity drop below 20. I try to keep it in the 30's but RH will change that. I have not really had to add water these last few hatches. I do but not much and not often. It is humid here so it is not needed much. At hatch the goal is to keep them from drying too fast so the higher the humidity the better. It has almost rained in mine sometimes. I just don't worry over it.

You will have to play with it and just figure out what works for you. Everyone will have opinions, but you need to figure it out. I do believe that if you use a higher humidity the first 18 days you may drown some chicks. When they pip internally they will find condensation in the air cell all die. JMHO

Thank You Donna

Anyone here have turkeys? I am thinking of getting some next year and I am trying to decide what kind to get. I would also like to get a few for eating.

Any thoughts?

I had Royal Palms for a couple of years. They were easy keepers and very social, A nice size for a small family. I ended up selling them to make more room for peacocks
