The Middle Tennessee Thread

Morning Mrs. Jen. We have lots of robins here too. Can't decide if there are any girls yet tho. My red birds are disapearing to. Guess its time for homesteading!Wish that sun would quit trying to hide and come out and dry t5hings. Its so muddy and nasty out that only the pig is happy!

Morning Ladies!

Glad it seems everyone has survived our wild weather once again. I'm sick of it so I'm sure my girls are, too - at least I can put on boots and coat when it gets wet/cold!

When is the meet up in the Boro going to be in April? Can I come pet some?

The roosting pole in the coop gave way and I need to replace it today (leaving for the mountains in the am!). The only thing I have here that is the right size is a cedar pole, cut 2 yrs ago. Would that be ok, at least just for a week?

Please pray for my girls - hubby will be in charge of their care and feeding........

'Morning, y'all!

It was lovely to wake up to sunshine this morning. Everything is still pretty soggy outside, but the sun is out and it is leaning towards warm. The boys are out there crowing enthusiastically while their women scratch about in the mud digging up yummy earthworms. The babies in the house are a contented lot. They are happily toddling about this morning munching on the wet mash I made up. I'll try to post pics here in a minute.

My goal today is to get some weeding out of the way. I am itching to start planting things, but the weeds are in the way. I have strawberry plants on the way!

I am going to miss the Dalton show as well. I may try to run by the co-op just to see what is up. I go to that co-op regularly. I actually just bought barred rock and red sex link chicks from that co-op. I find that getting a pile of girls helps me move on my little roos later on. At any rate, they are nice folks and I love that they are upping their poultry interest. I'll let you know what I find. We have been looking for a place to have a regular swap. This may work out for us.

I think we decided on April 2nd for our next meet up. We need to decide what time and where to do it. Last time we tentatively said we wanted to meet in a park or something so we could bring chicks and chickens. What do you all want to do?

I am off to play in the sunshine. Gosh, I love spring break!

Darn I'll be missing the meet up then in April. I'm in Gatlinburg with 8 girls having fun leaving Friday morning-yeah homeschooling is great and coming home Sunday evening.
Anne we will have to meet up sometime or I can run to Jens house and leave her with the eggs and cookies if she doesn't mind before I leave ...although be warned if I leave cookies with Jen

I'm on the lookout for a very high quality black mottled bantam Cochin Roo if anyone sees one.It must have correct toe feathering and comb as well as type..like I said he's got to be very nice but I'm also willing to pay for that quality.

I'm glad to see everyone survived the rain/snow!

All these sweet bitty pictures are making me crazzzzzzzy with envy!

Did you guys notice when the robins were at your house they left zillions of bright red bittersweet berry poops all over the yard? It looked like red confetti in the grass, LOL. Oh, I bet you can't wait to eat that first juicy strawberry of the year!

@ the chicky video.

Do you guys meet more often than once a year?

Those buckeeyes are one of the breeds I was looking into. If we ever get setup to have more breeds I wanted some. They are just too nicely colored!

Only 5 more days til babies arrive!!!

Spring come quickly!

Hey everyone! I've been pretty quiet here lately. Life has been pretty crazy. We were able to fix our chicken coop's roof after the storm. My poor girls, they were probably so scared! Our second chicken coop is put together and now I'm just waiting on my Mr. NOT Fix it to build our run. Please wish me luck, because we are going to need it

In other news, we've hatched our first eggs!

We're technically not on day 21 until 7:30 pm tonight, but so far 10 eggs have hatched. 4 buff orpingtons, 3 blue orpingtons, and 3 french black copper marans. Unfortunately none of my blue wheaten ameraucanas have hatched yet, although one does have a pip. There are 6 more eggs in there that definatley have pips that I can see. These little chickies are quite rowdy and are kicking the eggs all over the place making it difficult to see

I was reading through the posts and noticed a possible swap meet. I'd love to go if possible! Is it OK to bring kids?

And here's a picture of our new babies
