The Middle Tennessee Thread

Is there anyone here who wants my Rhodebar rooster? I'm about to put him on Craigslist for free. I've made my money back selling hatching eggs and chicks - and I just don't want to keep him since, despite Greenfire Farms continued insistence otherwise, I'm not sure he's purebred. He's a great breeder - just about every egg I've incubated has produced a chick.

Here's a pic of him:

I want him so bad..... not sure why..... or what I would use him for.

I just got a new Black Copper Marans roo yesterday.....

Thanks for all the complements on the GSBR too.

Carol, molts can last for 3-4 months.

THREE or FOUR MONTHS?!!!! OMG!!! There are feathers everywhere in a couple of my pens.

Donna - all you have to do is say the word, and I'll deliver that rooster to your farm tomorrow. :) Or if you want a Sunday afternoon drive to Franklin, you can come get him.

I am going to pass, now if he was a Legbar I would be ALL OVER THAT!

Most of my chickens are coming out of molt, but not totally up to laying regularly. My Wheaten Ams have been molting the longest and have had feathers for several weeks. Just got eggs yesterday, but none today. My cuckoo Marans were the same way. Fully feathered but nothing for weeks. I think the only adults I have that have not molted are my Blue Rocks, but one has not laid in weeks. Any day I expect them to just stop and find feathers everywhere. I find they stop laying then lose feathers, feather back in and then start laying with several weeks at each stage.

Thanks for the information about molting. That sounds about like what has happened. They stopped laying for a week or two before I started seeing feathers everywhere. Sigh! I guess by spring they'll all be laying again.

Nah... the first of the year would be more like it. That kinda seems like spring since I will start setting eggs for selling chicks.....
