That all depends on what is needed. If you look on Craigs' List for Nashville, there are people who are actually giving birds away FREE for one reason or another. Some have even given away the coop as a bonus. These people either are leaving this hobby or moving from the area and can't have the birds to follow them.

Found my Blue Copper Marans Roo dead this morning.

I can only guess it was a heart attack. He was fine yesterday..... bummed.

Hi Middle TN folks :)

I joined BYC yesterday (long new member intro posted yesterday)

I think of myself as E TN, but really we are sorta middle, between Dunlap & Fall Creek Falls so I've subscribed to this threat.

I'm (ok really DH has taken over ) building a diy 'bator
(Its a trade, he builds the "chicken project" & I refrain from talking to him about chickens , seriously!)

I'm wanting to do the NYD Hatch a long , it sounds like SOOO much fun, what a great way to start 2013!
But none of my chickens are laying :(

I found a local source of duck hatching eggs, but I understand they are more difficult and this will be the 1st run of the
homemade incubator so I think it would be a safer bet if I could find some fertile chicken eggs for this...anyone have suguestions for hatching eggs reasonably local so I can also avoid the poss. scrabbled eggs in the mail situation -- I really want the best shot for NYD hatch, and if they fail I'd like to clearly know it was the diy bator so I can fix it b/f trying duck eggs.

Thanks
FeyRaine

Donna so sorry to hear about your Roo. Do you have a replacement? I'm sure you do with all the chicks you have, but I'd offer eggs if you need some. If only my hen was laying she's still doing the broody thing. I finally gave in & gave her 3 eggs. 1 EE, 1 BR, 1 SLW. Guess I'll see how she does. :/

I have more roos than I need. This year I didn't really grow any out. I do have his son a Blue Copper that looks to be growing out with good color so we will see. I still have my Dark Blue Copper and 2 Black Coppers and a young Black Copper roo too. I am going to hatch every egg I get for the next few days. I have a doz already so hoping for 2-3 doz by the time my shipped eggs get here. I do have a few others too that are really young, but not from him.

Thanks for the offer you are sweet!
