ChickenQueen12 it's easiest if you have a killing cone. I can post a pic of one I made it was made from the heavy plastic I cut out of the bottom of a kiddie pool that I used for the top of my brooder. A quick slice at the base of the jaw bone will bleed them out very quickly this is easier then trying to cut the neck the feathers will be tougher then you think, you want this to be quick and cleaning is much easier when they have been bled out.

Carol, I think we shared a customer today.... They picked up some Arucanas from you and came and got 21 little roosters from me

maybe a couple of pullets tossed in too.

Yes - the guy got four 17-week old roosters from me - and then mistakenly sent me an email meant for someone else - guess it was you!

Is anyone interested in Swedish Flower Hen eggs with a few Cream Legbar eggs thrown in? The SFHs are just finishing up their molt - and I'm not sure whether or not the eggs are fertile. I gave some to a guy a few weeks ago and none of them developed - and he thought that maybe the rooster was molting, too, and wasn't servicing the hens. The CLBs are still molting - I'm only getting maybe three or four eggs a week. I don't know if the eggs are fertile or not. But I don't want to incubate anymore right now. So if you want to take a gamble, you are welcome to the eggs - no charge since I don't know if they're fertile or not. I have about 15 SFH eggs and maybe 4 CLB eggs. Once I know they're fertile, I'll start selling them again.

So I've got about 25 layers - and today I got only TWO eggs. Lazy hens!!

Well i need to cull and fry a few of my roos that i dont need but i dont have the heart to do it what will help me get through this lol I have hand raised these guys from chicks and i am attached but i cant sell them cause no one wants them so i want them in my freezer

I have found that giving extra roos away via Craigslist works for me. All the extra roos were a major obstacle for me initially, and I know that I couldn't process them. Not yet anyway. I WISH I could do it, but since I can't, I generally give them away.

Wondering how close or far you are -- I could pop a couple in w/ my NYD Hatchalong, its a huge gamble anyway since it is a homemade coolerbator & my first time using one, but I could fit literally 2-6 more eggs above what I have now & then see how they candle at day 10 etc. if you happen to be near me (I'm 16 miles from Fall Creek Falls State Park).

Oops - sorry! I just got the email notice about Donna's reply. I didn't see that FeyRaine had responded before Donna. I'll split the eggs between the two of you.

Let her have her pick.... I have some CCL coming in the spring so if she wants those over the SFH or more CCL that is not any problem with me since she just wants a few eggs. I am not going to be picky on iffy FREE eggs LOL
