My broody hatched one egg. left the others but was keeping the little one warm. I moved the 2 other eggs under her so maybe they'll hatch.

You might need to come get a couple of chicks from me.... 1 chick is not a good idea.... they get really lonely.... not sure about a broody mama...... might just be with incubation chicks.....

I have some clean leg Marans chicks that I just took out of the hatcher today.

well I guess it is pretty common to have solid down and then barred as they get older

we never could figure out what breed he was until he got most of his feathers in...and now that I look back on the pics he looks like he might have been blue barred...that could explain why his down was bluish grey instead of black.

Might do that Donna, you wouldn't happen to have any sbel would you. I'd like a blue egg layer. It'll have to wait till late tomorrow.or sat. Since she left the other egg I'm guessing it won't hatch. I'm pretty sure it was developing. I've put it back under her twice now, but it was cool to the touch. She's doing good with the chick. Sitting keeping it warm.

I don't.... only the Marans I can part with.... I only hatched some projects, some marans and Cuckoo Marans projects (a roo and a pullet you can't have I think she is solid blue) I am only hatching for ME right now. Jan I will start hatching to sell and that will be SBEL
