Donna, she laid while I was at the poultry show this weekend.

420 eggs in the bator!? Wow! That sure is a lot of chicks! Congrats on all the sales.

Most of the eggs I have been trying to hatch have been shipped.... and about 90-95% don't develop at all for some reason. I have been tossing about 1/2 every time I candle. It is a shame to toss that many eggs.

She was with a Blue or Black Copper Marans roo (just changed them out) should be fertile! :D   I was eating them too LOL .  I don't much care for a cross back to a marans... they would lay a pretty dark egg. She is probably a second generation Olive Egger.

Yeah, she will be living with the Ameraucana roo after isolation is done. If it should be fertile then it's definitely going in the bator. :D

UMMMM is it typical for a Pekin duck to go broody cause my girl went broody and has 2 eggs under her and wont let anyone near her nest site but it will be cute to see little babies at the pond

My dog decided that our chickens look yummy, so he gets staked/crated when they have full run of our yard. Thankfully he didn't kill any, but only because I tackled him in mid-chomp. He's never bothered our cat, and our cat guards the chickens... Crazy animals
A friend's doxie mix decided chasing chickens was fun. She zapped her with the cattle prod. She's a stubborn little cuss, so it took a couple tries but now she gives those chickens a wide berth!

Now I"ll go back and finish reading through the other 1000 pages in the thread! Love that there are so many people in this area with chickens!!!! Do you all still get together?
