Got home and one of my Crested Cream Legbar pullets was dead in the nest box this morning.

My son said he was going to get rid of them..... what was a few days ago and they are still here and running around. 6 dead so far I think.

My dog decided that our chickens look yummy, so he gets staked/crated when they have full run of our yard. Thankfully he didn't kill any, but only because I tackled him in mid-chomp. He's never bothered our cat, and our cat guards the chickens... Crazy animals
 
At a month old our first chicks are doing great. The silkies are too cute.






It looks as though our plan for all hens has run into a bit of a cockup.

Husband closed the run today and left about an 18" opening......guess who is enjoying free range today? I didn't have the heart to put them back in, they used to free range all the time until they destroyed the gardens......today it all came back to them and they are having the best time!
 
I'm letting mine out to free range as much as possible now because once we plant the garden, they'll be in their run until later in the summer.

I sold 10 pullets. 4 hens and gave him a young roo I didn't want to be eaten. Roo guy came and too away about 12 maybe more roos too. I think since last weekend I have moved about 100 birds.... really! Monday I have to go get feed and maybe it will last longer than a month this time
