Just want to share pics of my week old LF bbs Orps. They grow so fast and I have one blue one that is attempting to crow. At first I thought I was nuts but my husband and son have both heard him.

Yes Guineas will flock in a circle around a snake & all peck it until dead, sometimes you'll lose a bird if it gets too many bites but they do have some resistance to snake venoms so they don't always die from even multiple bites.

As to the Gatersnake , it as do other snakes carry a heavy load of BACTERIA in their mouths, ppl underestimate how fast that can become a life threatening septic infection from a bite. The bite site(s) need to be cleaned and watched for signs of infection, in a human they often don't take it very seriously at the ER but Dr. in the know _always_ proscribe a course of anti-biotics for any break the skin snake bite b/c of the possibility of it going septic so quickly. So keep a close eye on your dog's wounds & behavior if the wounds start to look infected , feel hot, or the dog acts listless get the dog antibiotics w/o delay.

I am looking for a good source to buy Jubilee Orpingtons in Tennessee or Alabama. It would be nice to actually buy my first small flock in person locally. Anyone kbnow of anyone in AL. or TN. raising them? Thanks.

 

The jubilees on Craig's list in Laverne are Doug Austin's. I just saw them two weeks ago and they are gorgeous. Doug is fabulous to work with and his birds (and chicks) are healthy and well cared for.

I have some Birchen Marans coming next week! Yeah! No gold or cream color leakage. Now I will have to make my own pullets but that will be easy

Projects are FUN.... can't wait till I get these guys going.

I have some Tolbunt Eggs in the bator and they are DEVELOPING and can't believe that! I heard they didn't travel well but these did pretty well. 1 was cracked so it was no good. All the others started 1 quit and another is questionable but still YEAH!

My Blue Laced Red Orp F1 eggs are developing! I am so happy. The BLRW roo does a much better job than that Orp roo. I think he is too fluffy.

So sorry your dog got bitten,hope she recovers okay. I just don't like snakes,good ones or bad!
Enjoying these nice warm days! Need to get some pens built after this past weekend! Went to the sale sat and got 4 pairs of bantams,then today was very lucky and got six americanna hens off craigslist for only #6 each! I had gotten a nice roo sometime back but hadn't been able to find any hens I thought I could afford. Was sure happy to get these! Now to find someone close who hatches eggs!

My Silkies are sitting outside in the rain and look like they are drowning.. They are not the smartest of chickens.

My silkies seem to love the rain and mud puddles more than my other chickens. Silly little things.
