The Middle Tennessee Thread

Hi all. I am new to Middle Tn & a new chicken mama. I am loving our new little adventure. We bought 12 chicks from TSC probably 2 months ago. They just moved into new coop a few days ago. I am learning so much on here.

I have chicks that I need to sell to make room! I ordered 14 silver penciled rock chicks directly from Dick Horstman. I am keeping 8 and selling 6 of them. They are about 3 weeks old. I also have 5 Easter Eggers (4 yellow, 1 chipmunk) that are 3 weeks and 2 Easter Eggers (chipmunk) and 3 Australorps that are 2 weeks. I still can't tell sexes on any of them so they are straight run. Message me if you are interested! I will be selling a few blue penciled rocks and chocolate ameraucana project chicks too in a few weeks if I get a good hatch (12 each set)! I am in Dickson but will meet within reason.

Howdy Y'all! We moved to middle TN last September. In the middle of buying a house, getting a job, and settling in last Fall - we heard about the Amish auction in KY to buy our chickens this Spring. Well....naturally...in the middle of now prepping a garden, still working, still settling in, and trying to get situated for our coop, I missed the auction!!!

Ugh!!! Now what? I really want to start my coop with hens who are about to lay and possibly one rooster. Anyone with any other good leads on where to do this? Looking for good layers - brown eggs...no major breed preference really...I think. Thanks!

Hello all. I am trying to fill some new raised garden beds and am looking for about 2-3 yards of dirt/compost to grow some veggies. All the services here in Nashville only deliver 5+ yards. Anybody know of somebody with good dirt that is willing to make a smaller run? I'd go get it from a nursery but I don't have a truck and I doubt my wife would find humor in my shoveling a few tons of dirt into the back of her minivan. :p

Would anyone like a 6 week old EE rooster named Bunny?

Bunny came to us from DMRippy. He's butting heads with all the other birds, but especially the silkies. I think one of them may be a rooster and before it gets to true fights, we need to get rid of Bunny. He will be pretty when he's grown. He's getting some dark green feathers on his back right now. I would prefer that he not go to a stew pot, but what I don't know won't hurt me. I'll imagine him as king of the roost somewhere. He's free. Just need to meet somewhere in the Cannon county/Murfreesboro area to get him. Any takers? Just send me a PM. If no one takes him from the boards, I'll post him to Craigslist.

Does he have feathered legs? If so he is a Olive Egger Cross. Looking kinda birchen too. Might be a pretty boy!

Update on Daddy.... he came through surgery just fine, THANK GOD! Thanks for all the prayers too. They still told him he would go home tomorrow. He was sitting up in bed eating when I left him at 8pm. Barring a complication I guess he will go home.
