I have had a couple of chickens with injured legs.... they have mostly recovered on their own. Youn need to put her in a small pen by herself. That way she can get to food and water and rest all she wants. Beyond that i dont know what to tell you.

I have a rumpless arucana that just started laying. Today she laid her third egg. Yesterday's and today's egg had blood on them. Today more than yesterday. Should I be concerned? This girl has a history of "poopy butt" that I have to maintain by giving her a bath and clipping her vent feathers to keep the area from building up feces. Anyway, unsure if it's related. I do have roosters in there that could be breeding her. So curious if this is a sign of a bigger problem that needs to be addressed. Another observation is there is a glob of white on the egg, like extra shell. Looks like painters caulk splattered on it. So maybe this is causing abrasions on the way out? Anyone seen this before?

SORRY! No... it is normal it is her FIRST time and it will clear up. MOST of my pullets eggs will have blood at one time or another. I think I get blood on eggs from hens every once in awhile.

Seen on the Ky poultry page on facebook where someone has 15 hens and 5 roos of black copper marans for sale for $200. Some are feather kegged. Of any one is looking for some.

A;most New Years Eve! Hope 2013 is a better year than 2012~!Is anyone ready to show thier Nrw Years yet?
