RK is supposed to get some more tomorrow, Friday at latest. I think my mom is gonna throw some RIR in the batch. I have 3 nesting boxes, how many chickens max? 9-10?

It's so much nicer when they're sexed pullets. I bought some in Clarksville -not much of a selection. Springfield, TN was all out when I called. I even checked out Evansville, IN.

That's what's nice about living near the border of TN. TN got their chicks first. Now I can get more in KY.

The TSC in Ashland City still has sexed chicks..... last time I was there..... 2-3 days ago.... PLENTY of them.

I have 16 using 3 nesting boxes just fine.... they will be piled 3 on top of each other and still have 1 empty box.... go figure.

Hey yall,

Which farmer's markets are worth going to? Anyone ever go to the springfield one on 41N?

I've been to the ones in downtown Nashville, Mt. Juliet, and Lebanon and all of them had something worth stopping for. There's a beekeeper in Mt. Juliet with really nice honey and reasonably priced. In Nashville, well, I've never seen so many different eggplant varieties outside of a seed catalog. I'd say check it out at least a few times.

This is just way too much excitement for one person. Right now I'm waiting on the shipment to two RK's today for baby chicks, and someone has to mention "seed catalog". Same thing happens with gardening, you can't have too many seed packets, plants, etc. Okay, so maybe I do have too many seed packets, blueberry, grape, raspberry, lilac, hydrangea bushes sitting by my back door just waiting to be planted. They're calling my name right now, "Plant me, plant me." Funny, it sounds like they're chirping it.

Sorry! I have a window full of tiny seedlings (including 10 varieties of tomato because I couldn't decide which ones to skip this year!). Baker Creek's catalog gets me every time. I also have a day lily waiting patiently. I can't walk past the bulbs without stopping to browse. I'm sure there is a name for this disorder.
