The Middle Tennessee Thread

Alerievay........You will find plenty for sale on this thread....and if not we can direct you to who has them....only thing is most have chicks now so you'll just have to see who replies. Have you tried the Poultry House in Franklin? I've heard people on here say they've had good luck there.

TinTennessee......love the cost!! and I know yours girls will love getting out and enjoying it.

Lori.....I am so sorry for what you are going through. One thing women understand is you don't have to have an answer, I don't need rescuing, JUST LET ME VENT!!! You go right ahead, from the sound of things you deserve it.
Hang in there it will get better, we will all keep you in our prayers.

Lori, I'm sorry your having such a rough time. I'll add you to my prayer list also. Praying you have brighter days ahead.
Cinny thanks, I have access to pallets from work. The rest is old fence & some tin roof from the old coop. Plus the platform part of a trampoline that blew in from the storm. Someday I'll build the 2nd version of " The Fowl Frontier" . For now hoopty coop will have to do. :-D

i hate to change the subject but im looking for some young pullets. rir's, ameracauna's maybe some production reds. and golden sexlink's. somewhere in the 4-10 week old class. i just finished my coop and needs some chicks. NOW.

Cinny, thanks. I realize it's a pretty bad time to look for started chickens.

I might consider chicks that are sexed or auto-sexing. I would have to talk my husband into it. :)

The RIR, Am or EE and PR would be hard to sex at that age unless you order them from a hatchery. My ams I have to almost wait till they crow, same with the red birds. I can't sex them FULL grown sometimes. I sold a pullet as a roo once.... she was 6 months old. Several chicken people thought she was a roo too.

Did CityGirlintheCountry have sexed red birds and EE? Send her a PM I have not seen her on here much till today.

Okay, I have to vent as I can't do it at home.

Granny had a stroke at Christmas.
Mom had a stroke this month.
Dad has been trying to deal with both of them but can't.
Mom has had a drastic personality shift and has become one of the meanest, most foul mouthed, irritating persons I have ever met.
Grandmother was living with parents but has now moved in with me.
I have been doing everything for my grandmother to give Dad a break, have 2 children at home, 1 graduating and attending college, farm, husband, and full time job.
Personal sickness that I haven't discussed with anyone, job sucks and stress there is thru the roof, and I don't have enough time in the day to do anything enjoyable.
Have a bill to pay that will take every bit of saving and scrimping so that means I can't attend a single chicken show this year, no new books (my second passion), kids are instructed to be extremely careful with shoes and clothes and not to wear the good ones on the farm, etc, etc.
Husband's family has a whole host of issues going on.
Strong winds this week flipped and rolled down the hill, thru the stream, and up into the other pasture, my chicken house with the show silkies in it.
Everyone has had their own personal meltdown moment for them to have a chance to scream and cry, but me. I am the one that has to keep everything on track.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Okay I feel better letting someone know that I am in over my head.
WOW you should have shared with us a long time ago..... you vent anytime you want.

I will pray for you and your family. God will help you get through this and it will pass.

I currently have some hatchery chicks that I'm growing out. So far they all actually seem to be female as advertised. :)
I've got 5 and 6 week old buff orps, golden wyandottes, silver wyandottes, barred rocks and a couple of EEs. I'm just now starting to hatch from my own pens. I have new roos in all three pens. Been waiting on the boys to figure out what they are doing. ;)

Yeah, I've been kind of random on here lately. It has been a hard winter. I think things may finally be settling down.

We have red sex links... They are not 4-10 weeks old though, they are about 2 weeks right now. We have a New Hampshire roo over Silver Laced Wyandotte hens.
