The Middle Tennessee Thread

We have been married for 18 wonderful years. She was & still is my best friend. We just don't speak the same language, literally ! We will both talk about something have the same idea , but present it so totally different that you'd swear it was two different things. I'm to old to change my way of thinking, she's older than me. So where does that leave us? With a different preception of the same thing. Kinda like the 3 blind guys all trying to describe an elephant , one from the trunk, one from the tail & one from the middle. They just couldn't agree what it was like. I guess we'll just agree to disagree.

Why is it some people have no concept of why things are done a certain way. The repairs on our house are almost complete. I talked to my wife about what was going to be done on the front porch. She was there when I discussed with the contractor what size everything would be, how the rail would be made. It's complete, looks really good. She hates it!!!! I don't & never will understand. Ladies, how does your brain work ? Why can't men & women speak the same language? Is there a common ground we can meet on? Aaaaagggggghhhhhh!!!!!! I'm so confused !!!

Please don't confuse this as an attack on the way women think. It's mearly the random rambleings of a tired husband , I just needed to vent thank you.

Okay - I know what you mean only my husband is the one who has a problem visualizing the final product. I (the wife) do all the building and fixing things around the house from painting - tiling - design - building, etc. It took me years to realize that while I can actually "see" a finished product in my head, he has trouble visualizing the end result of something. I'll talk to him like he understands the direction we're going, even going so far as to draw it out or show him paint, etc, but he really can't give it substance in his mind. Thankfully, he loves everything I do. This is the beauty of individuality (albeit frustrating a times!)

I can tell you the answer. I am a graphic artist and I run into this problem all the time. Some people (not just women) can not take a word description and translate it in their heads to an accurate internal picture of how it will look. It is an advanced skill based on memory and spatial relationships and sometime physics it there are moving parts. I have run into problems all the time with describing advertising layouts to someone. That's why we usually use thumbnail sketches but some people are so design impaired that that doesn't help all that much. Those are the jobs I just LOVE to do. I usually add an aggravation fee if they manage to literally give me a headache.
Hey....I was a graphic artist too!!! For years, then started having kids and never really got back into it. This was before it was all computerized and I had to set my own type, frame my own ads, etc....miss it sometimes, but can totally understand what you are saying.

OOOOooo! I Resemble that remark!

Hello, I was looking for a place to hang my hat. It seems the eastern TN thread is closed

I am 20 miles east of Chattanooga. So not too far from the middle. I have lived in Middle Tennessee. Dover,TN does that count? I raise EE's and OL's with a couple of stray breeds 3 BCM's 1 silver laced cochin, 1OB, 2 welsummer's, and 1 red laced wyandotte. The BO and SLcochin are the kids pets.

Did you know that men lose hearing in the range woman talk and woman lose hearing the the range men talk..... Joy.... Joy..... My hubby needs to read some of this but he is hard headed and would not understand any of the good advice you men are giving.

Hey Donna long time no see! Ha I wait till hubby is watching TV to ask for something. And when I bring it home he says "what I never said that"! Then the kids chime in "yes you did dad" It only works if you have a witness!

Welcome! This is a great place to hang out. Lots of friendly chicken enablers ;) On a different note, does anyone know if you can get oxine locally or do I have to order it online? I've been reading on it since someone here posted about using it and I want some like yesterday.
