my roo is walking! am so shocked! I had him in a barrel pen....they are a little slick so he just sat there for 2 days but looked like he was trying to use his leg so I moved him to a reg pen and he stayed standing and walking and preening too. yeah!
That's awesome!

The hatchers are great they are the vet of our dogs and are amazing. They won't charge you a arm or a leg either Alex that works there is also a very good vet..
Thank you! I have a sick baby but I think today may be her last day. I've been doing what I can for her but today I think she's given up. ;,(

My little chick passed this morning so now I have her friend that I had got to keep her company and she's all alone. I currently have a broody Houdan. Do you think that she would adopt a month old chick?

Chrystal dawn soo sorry for the loss of your chick.might just need to find a young chick needing rehomed for your lonely one then they grow up together.

Sorry you lost the chick. It is really hard when you've put days of hands on time into trying to save them :(

The broody may or may not take the chick, just depends on the individual broodyhen. Chances are pretty low however,
and if she doesn't she is likely to kill the chick so if you try it you need to be prepared...

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for your condolences. I've never been so torn up about losing a chick before. I've gotten so attached. This was my first sick one and she was with me day in and day out. It's not fair that you get more attached to the sick ones.

My plan tonight when I get off work at 3am is to come home and put her in there with the broody hen and stay up until the hen wakes up and keep an eye on the situation. I'm not holding out much hope so if anyone has a month old chick, let me know but I may just go pick up one of this ones siblings from Tess.

I have 4 barnvelder babies... 2 blue double lace and 2 splash, all are about a month old. I need them gone tonight if possible. If you come to my house and get them you can have them for free.

I live in Murfreesboro, Tn and I am new to keeping chickens. We started this year with 12 and have dwindled down due to our dog to only 6. They dang chickens keep flying in his pen and then of course he eats them! I have 3 white leghorns and 3 red sex links. They are all 5 mos. old. My leghorns are great layers, but my RSL's have not yet started to lay. I wanted chickens just to lay eggs, I do not want to breed or sell. I have 5 kids, believe me I need the eggs lol. Anyway, my girls cannot stay out of trouble, so I am thinking of adding a roo, just for protection and to kinda keep them all together. They are free- range and tend to go in the neighbors yard, the woods, ect. Anyone have a roo they would like to give away that is less than 5 mos. old? Preferably a nice one...
you are welcome to my roo. As long as its not to eat, I am good with it!
