The Middle Tennessee Thread

I saw that on another thread and was really thinking of trying it out. was a bit worried about the food in the corners.....might mold around here. I use 4 inch PVC pipe and feed gets in the corners and molds in those. I have to clean them out every few weeks.

I would think with that feeder the feed would really only fall near the hole and would have to be emptied regularly to keep the feed fresh. let me know how that works for you.
will do. So far so good but thanks for that. I'll keep an eye on the mold.

Speaking of neighbors, mine are pretty great also. My chickens free- range in her yard, they prefer her yard as she has lots of bird feeders hanging from her trees. As the birds eat, they drop lots of seeds to the ground which my girls happily clean up. They also like dust bathing in her bushes lol. As a trade for letting my chickens use her yard, I give her a free dozen eggs every so often. She loves to watch them and thinks their great. I am jealous that we have 2 and a half acres and they like her small yard better :)
Sharing eggs makes everything ok! Mine like my front yard more than the back but the older they get the more they stay put.

Was told today that my EE looks to be a rooster. Bernice is about 5 or 6 months old and I hope that it's a she. Anyone know for sure? No eggs or crowing.

Second question, if it is a rooster......anyone need a very lovey, snuggly EE rooster?!?????!

100% rooster. pullets can't have red on their wings like that.

Thanks for the bard eggs. In the incubater now. Ours haven't laid yet but should be close. New blood will be good though.

those are heritage Good Shepard barred rocks. if your others are hatchery you may not want to breed them together. there is a work of difference in the birds. GSBR are breed for their meat so taste is a big deal with him. size would be another thing.....my roo is the size of a turkey. the barring is different on my birds too. I personally would not mix them with any other barred rocks......but they will be yours.

I hope you have a good hatch....2 doz eggs should get a good number of chicks.
