Yes you are right my egg size has creeped up and they have not molted yet, size may increase with age and molt.
Hey Donna how are your MFL doing? I ended up with 6/6. 2 of the pullets are bantam size... whats up with that I wonder?

I've had some of the white leghorn eggs from Donna's flock and they were bigger than Jumbo!
They were as big or bigger than my Pekin duck eggs, no joke, amazing size.
When she says SBEL the super means at least in part, SIZE :)

that and production. most of the time the white leghorn will lay for 10 days without a day off....maybe longer sometimes.

some of my originals are still laying very well at 2.5 years old. they lay the biggest eggs too.

Man o man what a wet summer.. My fathering law said how ever many fogs in August means how many snows for the winter. Well it has been foggy every other night on the way home from work! So what do some of y'all do for winter time?

I was checking the leghorn for eggs and there was a possum! he is hiding under the coop....I knew that would be perfect for predators lol. going to set a trap...what to bait it with? unknown there are more. neighbor caught one the other day too and they are not full grown yet.

hubby shot him but I am sure there are more. I will stop and get some marshmallow I have heard that too.....no telling what I am going to catch now.

when I started to the leghorn pen something got my attention to the left of the path. I just figured it was a snake or lizard and then I found the possum IN THE COOP OF THE LEGHORNS. I left the door open while I tried to figure out what to do and he crawled under the coop. we couldn't get him out I tried for about an hour. I have some reach sticks and he was too strong and held tight. I made a noose thing and got it around his lower jaw and he would pull out of it.

My mastiff has killed two recently. I wish they'd tell their opossum buddies to stay out of my yard. Starting your day scooping up a disemboweled critter makes for a pretty cruddy morning.
I have some live traps if anyone needs some. they're for squirrel/chipmunk size animals.
