I do turn mine into my chicken runs any chance I get (if one is empty) and yep sure enough in just a couple of days it is turned and fluffed and ready to reseed. The good thing is they do not rut and root as deep or as destructively as the big pigs. I have a lot of daylillies and hostas that I was worried about but they went in my flower beds and weeded them very well and left the lillies and hosta alone. I keep mine in pens but let them out to free range when I am home. I have two litters on the ground right now and they are almost as entertaining as the chicken TV.

I have a question for someone that knows a bit about genetics...
What causes barring?
And what does barring look like in a juvenile?
I have GLW over RIR crosses (2 weeks old) and they look like the might become barred or partially barred. Would the gene from the lacing possibly be the cause of this. The primary flight wings are red with gold lacing but the secondaries compared to my pure GLWs are more striped/barred.
Not sure if this would be barring or just a coincidental pattern.

Well the chicken train leaves tonight meeting Donna Amanda dmrippy on the way back home.. lots of chickens. If you would like to purchase any of our chicks or chickens and would want to meet us on our way we would be glad to bring some more. Also some hatching eggs available to.

What is the route the chicken train taking?

She/He maybe on the road already.  They are in Johnson city and Driving up through KY, OH and then to IN.  Same route on the way back but they are stopping in Knoxville to meet me.

I am going to Chattanooga to pick up some SPECIAL CHICKS and then we will head over to knoxville, then I will stop near livingston/sparta area to deliver eggs  (SHHHHHHH don't tell that!!!!! I don't USUALLY deliver eggs like that, just trying to save her a trip to Nashville if I can).  I am in for a surprise when I meet TNBC because I don't really know what I am getting LOL.

Y'all have fun at the show..... I hope you guys can find each other ok.  I have not seen anyone mention a meeting place..... sorry I can't go but I didn't have many choices on what day I could pick up the chicks and then TNBC is helping me out too so CHICKENS CALLED.

so who has "special chicks"in Chattanooga and what kind?
I am halfway between Chattanooga and Knoxville and have 3 different people coming to pick up chicks and adults this weekend. It would be funny if I was one of the stops. I'll have to look at my lady to see what the buyers names are. Lol

If the chicken train comes through Knoxville and you want to kill a little time, stop by turkey creek and say hi ( long shot I know ).i am a manager of a store there. I will be working seems like I am always working lol. I would love to meet some of the people on this board and put faces with names.

Ok... Weird!
My middle daughter manages a store in Turkey creek. What store are you?

Interesting..... hubby would kill me if I even mentioned. Love putting them in a chicken pen to turn it. That would be a huge back saver.
