The Middle Tennessee Thread

I didn't consider that. Since she was ruffled up as well as lethargic, i read she might need wormed That's what I did today. She does' t seem worse. You guys are all so smart! She's been on ACV all summer and has a clean butt. I am seriously wondering if I'm smart enough to have chickens.
Sure you are. It's like anything else, takes time. And your always learning. If you ask 6 people whats wrong with your chickens you'll get 12 different answers. LOL. Chicken problems are very hard to diagnose.

You said RUFFLED UP!? You sure shes not broody?

Hello from Nashville! Jolene was sexed as female ( it's 9 weeks old), but I'm worried it may be a rooster. It is bigger than my other EE, the feet and legs are bigger, and it's braver than my other two. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

Thanks Donna, I hate to give him up, but I'm thinking it is a cockerel

I agree most likely cockerel,

BUT last fall I had one EE who I & 3 other ppl all could not figure out, we kept thinking cockerel until I actually saw her lay an egg!

This EE bird even had the other birds confused, my BBR Rooster kept trying to fight it (not mate, fight) so I had to put her up in a small pen w/ her buddy, not until I had 2 eggs every day for a week from the 2 did I fully believe they were both pullets. The easy one was all black, the confusing one had a black base w/ other colors, including a very Rooster looking ring of gold around the neck. So w/ the EE until they crow or lay an egg there is always that 1% chance they have of fooling you.

Any ideas what kind of chicken this is. It was sent to me by my sister in law in Georgia, it was given to her and she has no idea. She says it's a pullet and very sweet but that's all she knows.

Three days of Wormer and she is back to her old self! Maybe I'm not a totally terrible chicken mom!
