The Middle Tennessee Thread

I wanted to show off my only chick to hatch at Easter. This is a Sapphire/SPBWyandotte cross. Both the Sapphire hen and the SPBW roo came from Donna. She feather sexed as a girl and when I vent checked at 3 weeks it still seemed to be a girl. She has a rose comb. Her baby name is Cheep. Her buddy the A&M quail is named Peep. I kept back one quail from those I hatched for sale to replace the aging female quail in my pair. I knew she wasn't going to live much longer. She prolapsed last fall and finally healed from that but never returned to laying eggs. She had been looking listless and tired. When she died Albus the male called for her for a day and I took him and put him in with Cheep and Peep. He has been quiet since except for crowing this morning to let me know they were out of water

This last one was two weeks ago.

Personally, I have not, but a friend did once... said he only did because members of their families knew each other... he would never do it again... he went to his place and said all the birds were crammed in too small of space, looked awful, and he lost the ones he got not long afterwards... plus many of his previous flock... jmo, but there's many people on this thread in the area that might be able to help instead... :)

ETA: sorry, just realized you wanted 'scovies... don't know if anyone on here has those, lol...

Thanks! Think I'll pass if the birds are not well kept. I guess the search continues.

I only mentioned it since it came from a trusted friend... as another said, they got a healthy bird... but I've watched his ads on CL as well... he used to put NPIP on them all then got called out about it, the NPIP claims disappeared off his ads after that... things like that just make me question...

He sets up near Bonnies at a flea market.  That was scary to see what he had.  Dead birds in ever cage just about.  Not me, I would never buy from him.

I've seen him post about the flea market... I've never gone... and frankly I would be way too worried to go near his stock and go home to my own... but again, my opinion...

For those who asked, they have arrived.

Think I may have to stop fighting my destiny and grab a few of these little suckers. Evil little fluff balls. Adorable!

Isn't that illegal? Or something!

Hi all, I'll be in the Nashville area on Memorial day weekend and saw some craiglist postings for muscovies (been having so much trouble finding them).

The poster calls himself "Duckman" and is located in Murfreesboro. Has anyone purchased from him in the past?
We've got Muscovy and Muscovy/Swedish ducklings hatching every few weeks. Right now I've got 6 pure Muscovy 1 week olds for sale- blues and blacks, $6 each...not sure what we will have that weekend you're here, but feel free to contact me!
