I have no idea what City Girl means about me being an enabler...not a clue

Shelly you can candle those eggs at 5-6 days what hasn't started with those won't from present experience in that pen.Hopefully you will have several to fill that big brooder..I know where there are lots more eggs if you need some. Oh hate to tell you but...your hanging out in the wrong crowd for growing your flock slowly

Here is a picture of my new double decker brooder..the top is still empty-for now! It's really square but its so big I couldn't find a good place to take the pic..between chicks and a washing machine/dryer and wood furnace down there space has become very limited

Oh I couldn't resist a few fuzzy butts but I didn't do too many

Shelly the close up is the one clean legged chick that hatched out of the pen that your eggs are from

Oh well I have to take a chicken semi time out so I can get working on the taxes..I hate tax season but have come to the conclusion I preferred the years we had to pay up on the 15th even after paying in quarterly.

Planning and thinking...that's what I'm up to, but I've placed a self-imposed hold on any chick, chicken, or egg acquisition until I build 3 runs for my movable coops.
I also have a ton of work to do to get ready for the start of "bee season".

I have alot of building of boxes & frames and painting to do. I've given myself until March to get done

and set up for the next batch of chicks. I'm dreaming about what I want to add to my back yard flock.

Hey Bikechick! Cool to know another chicken freak is so close! I live off of Pinewood Road/TN 46. What neck of the woods do you live in? I haven't started the 'hatching on my own' thing yet...scared to get started doing that! I did intend to let any hens that I have hatch out some if they went broody, but now that I don't have a rooster I will have to can that idea. I do have 2 big styrofoam boxes that I got from work (intended to use moving the food in my mom's freezer, but didn't need). I had sort of been mulling the idea of making my own incubator with one of them. I have another if anyone wants one to make a homemade bator for themselves. I even looked on here for instructions, but I am still trying to resist it! Someone help me!

Anyway, when I get time I will check my work schedule and see when I am off and which meeting I could possibly make. Yall have a good week!

Carters Creek Pike
I have a foam bator w/ tuner & fan. I made a hatcher, but didn't get a chance to use it for this last hatch because of thermostat probs. I'll have it stabilized by March. I got the idea on BYC. I would recommend having turners, for I can not imgagine turning eggs by hand.

If you need any help w/ incubating PM me and we'll exchange personal contact info.

If I do get brave enough to make my own incubator I would love to come look at yours. Still resisting...If I don't make it though I will definitely have to have a turner. With the hours I work that is the only way it would work. Thanks!

Holly do you have an extra blue orpington roo or do you have orpingtons,I've forgotten. Don't forget to let me know what you decide about the blue and black ara,s Have someone that might be interested depending on price.

Guess I'll be headed to Moss,tn in the morning if its not icey or slick. Have bought a bunch of rabbits over there. Kind of scary buying them sight unseen. They are supposed to be dwarfs. Anyone want to buy a dwarf buck, there are supposed to be nine!

Does anyone have lavender Ameraucanas, lavender Orps, Blue Wheaten Marans or Blue Marans? I would be interested in eggs or days old chicks.

Thinking and planning for Spring

..........

I just sold my few blue Orps to HappyMtn..I have blue rocks and don't want to confuse my little brain too much
big_smile.png
It's lav Orps here..if they ever get here plus a future bunch from hyjink-and I think I got that spelled wrong.
BikeChick..I will have blue copper later this Spring. My pullets are 4 months and getting real big..also have a splash from the blue copper roo same age that will live with all black copper ladies when he gets it all figured out.HappyMtn has lav Ameraucana but they are not laying just yet
Well, they changed that forecast to real snow..2" of the junk and with today being so cold it's not going to rain first...well at least I will be able to sit at this beast and punch numbers without the distraction of going up town for a few days,

A few of my great friends here have called me an enabler so in that spirit I would like to enable someone to start into bantams
hugs.gif
so I'm giving away FREE(resistance is futile) one of the adorable Bantam Ameraucana Pair from the Jenski chicks.Mr Roodles is a splash that is getting some real nice splash markings for such a strapping young lad and his young lady is your choice of splash or blue

That is too cute.
