Jenski, it took me 50 minutes to get in to work this morning; it usually only takes me 25 minutes. I drove very slow even though I am driving a Jeep 4x4. The roads that I was traveling were completely covered with snow and ice and did not seem to get much better until I got closer to Dickson. Maybe, just maybe, this will be our last snow event for the winter!

Ah! My family is from the Buffalo-Rochester area. Don't miss that snow, but the countryside up there sure is beautiful.

Shelly! Where are you, girl? You have such a long drive - - did you make it home alright? Hope you are sitting at home this morning with a cup of warm something and a nice blankie!

Well I went out and gave everything a scratch treat and a fresh drink of water. Went into the pigeon loft and it was full of startlings!

And of course they had pooed all over everything! They are so nasty! I had to stay out and keeep them chased away from the bird feeders so the smaller birds could come in and feed. Why can't the hawks eat them and leave the other birds alone! They would have more than they would ever be able to eat.
We have a good 4 inches on the ground. Its slowly starting to warm up and begin melting in the sun. Our street is still white. Wife made it to Bowling Green okay.

Hi All! hope every one is staying safe and warm. Looks like I missed a lot on this post over the last couple days.

Tisha - my heart goes out to your family during this time. I hope the Silkies are giving you a bit of a distraction and some joy in this hard time for you.

Citygirl - glad to have you back and can't wait to see the pics.

I will definately be looking for my eggs to hatch - Holly/Jen. I won't make that same fatal mistake, turning the heat up before walking out the door for work. Trying to figure out when I can set some eggs as i am expecting my first GRANDBABY Feb. 22nd - YEAH!!! I will have to fly out to Clearwater FL in 2 or 3 weeks to go see him.

Okla-doodle-doo - I feel for you when you mention the poo all every the place - argh yuck. it's not like we don't have enough from our beloved birds they other strays move in and cause more mess.

Traffic was bad last night , but I think I made it out of Nashville before the gridlock. I heard alot of horror stories of co workers driving 3 hours to get home in 20 miles. So, today I just worked from home.

Thanks Joe!

Well are you all ready for the cold tonight! Maybe just one last night of this bitter stuff and then it will warm up. My chickens layed really well today so I guess all the extra corn scratsch is keeping their body heat up.I hope to get some eggs set next week!

Wow. Just. Too. C-c-c-c-cold.

My feelings are hurt. And my nose is frozen.

Well, we got near 0 here last night. My outside thermometers died, so I am just estimating the temp from what I know my coops will hold above the outside weather. My chilliest coop got down to 27, and my two bantam cochin roos came out ready to sit next to the shop lamp. . . . 500W of chickeny bliss. My smaller roo is favoring his left leg/foot, though, which is worrying me. The first thing I did was pull off my gloves and check his little feet for frostbite. Nothing! Feet were properly colored, and not even cool to the touch - - they were warm! He isn't roosting on his perch or crowing, but he did take a bite or two of breakfast. I figured I'd have to flip him over and really check his leg, hip, etc. for injury (sprain?), but I wanted to thaw off and have coffee first. Any of you with frostbite experience who have info that might help are welcome to chime in!

How did all your birds fare overnight, Mid-TN folks? Hope no one has suffered any losses. Looks like it is going to warm up nicely over the next week, so there is hope!!

Holly, how is your street this morning? Bet that hill near you is still nasty. Hope it thaws today!

Shelly, so sorry about your hatch. There are plenty more eggs out there, though!

1newegg, I have been down south long enough to feel really hurt about a 0 temp and 4 inches of snow. Sometimes I forget about wading through waist-high snowdrifts in <0 temps on the way to the bus, LOL!

CityGirl! You still here? We miss you!
