Hi all!
I see everyone is bursting with energy here in our Middle TN area , spring has sprung and this weekend is going to be beautiful and Sunny Saturday from the weather report.
I am bating a zero on incubating and it's not the lovely eggs I have been giving. I seem to have a break down after lock down, argh! My last hatch of 4 eggs and one pipped and zipped real good on day #20 I was jumping up and down all over the place I was so happy. but after 24 hours and almost a full zip the little chirper couldn't get out ... so i helped . Basically the shell was stuck to it - is that what some refer to as 'shirk wrapped' ?? I have no idea , but I hadn't opened the bator and my hygrometer read over 80% (I swear it's wrong though). Any way the little one has been in the brooder for it's second day and just chirps and chirps , it looks very sickly barely can stand up straight but it's a fighter and does laps around the rubbermaid bin all day long. It's also lonely so I put a feather duster in there and it sleeps in the feathers (how sweet). I'll post pics after work ... but it just breaks my heart that it's not 100% and that it's lonely.
Sooooo I am now lo0king for a few day old chicks ... What all do you have over at your place Holly?
I'm going to clean up the bator and try again ... after I buy a few more thermometers and humidity readers. Any one have a suggestion on the best they have found? (right now I have TWO mercury thermometers and one gqf hygrometer ... I rely on the mercurys for the temp and so far I'm doing terrible with the humidity reader).
believer01 - I know what you mean , I am not real sure my significant other feeds the chicks while I was gone for three days because they were WAY to happy to see me and their feed. *smile*
FarmerVal - congrats on your hatch. Hearing wonderful stories like that keeps me going ... to try again.
ENJOY THE SUNSHINE ALL !!!!
