He is pretty small , not much bigger than a pigeon. He is so pretty and boy can he fly ... I have him and his hen in the horse stall and when he gets spooked he flies way up in the rafters.

I didn't finish his coop/run/tractor so I hope he doesn't try to fly out of the barn in the next few days, I'm hoping he stays with his hen (who doesn't seem to want to fly).

OK Jenski here goes first off there were 480 OEGB...very heavy that was most of the breed there....the total amount of birds there was 1104 WAY more than I have seen in my life

as for cochin there were only 27 i remember seeing black and white and only one hen and cock mottled I remember this because i was talking to the lady that showed the mottled ones and she is on BYC and I can't remember her name but she hung out with Mary Robbins if that helps any

....I met so many people and everyone was great...ok back to the statistics....

there were 6 AOV which i think were painted silkies and Tish's Showgirls, 15 Black, 15 Blue, only 5 Buff, 2 Gray, 1 Partridge (supposed to be 3 but only one was there), 13 splash, and a whopping 42 White.....The whites looked like little cotton balls. All of them were just amazingly beautiful. I even saw birds i never knew existed modern game....There was a black and white one (looked like road runner, what it reminds me of LoL).....I kind of expected more Amercauna there were only 4 2 wheaten and 2 black if my memory serves me right. There were 100 people that showed. so 100 people stressed out LOL....I would've hated to be a judge so many beautiful birds there. There were only 4 D'uccle and I don't remember seeing them to know what was there.....there were some people there OMGosh you can tell they do this all the time just the way they have everything set up.....I think it was Amiee Crego had little footies on the silkies I think pretty smart. (I got a black silkie from her) and Vicky Harry (sunshine silkies, I got two splashes from), Jack Fergerson, Mary Robbins, Cathy Duckett, some of the names and people I met and so many others....and I learned so much I can tell the difference between the dark blue and black all in the butt

I wished more from Tn could have made it!!!!

I will get pics today of my babies and put them up later....we hubby and I well mostly hubby finished the silkie run yesterday so they get to play outside till it rains today...then i am sure they will run back in.

I am looking forward to the April meetup unfortunately I do have to work and can't get off....but I do get off at 2 so hoping it will still be going strong by that time, so i can stop in

I'm not buying the dark one..I'm not buying the dark one...I'll try not to buy the dark one but that coloring with a calico Cochin..hmm that project I'm keeping...Ethan just loves his Silkie friends and Toast is about it around here..He's getting so big now

Okla-I'll get some pics of the Buff Sussex..I'm selling some of the chicks that hatched in January.They are beautiful big and very mellow but as much as I want to breed for pure I will be keeping them only for the meat bird cross for at least one more year.It's the year of the Wyandotte here which is where my heart is and also the Lav Orps and my mini fun

Jenski-I'll get some pics tomorrow of a whole brooder full of Lavender Orpington chicks.They are coming in tomorrow morning..poor babies in a dark box they will need cuddles when they get here.

Busy weekend here we sold our adult Blue Rock flock and my favorite RIR roo...it's tough being a chicken here now.My tunnel vision is very narrow this year.It's tough seeing some of them go but to spend more time and space with the one's I'm keeping it will be worth it in the end.
I'm now without any mottled cochin roo at all so I'm looking but will keep looking until the right one comes my way...one of those things where I'm not getting one to get by with.I can throw my frizzle fella in there and hatch some Wild Children until I find one.

Oh, but Holly you neeeeeddddd that little girl. She and Toast would be great buddies and would hatch out such interesting babies.

I actually think of you every time I look at her. I know you love the funky little colored silkies. She probably has one more molt before she reaches her adult color. She was hatched late last fall. She has an AWESOME personality too. She has always been the inquisitive little troublemaker in the lot. When she was little I constantly had to herd her back to the group. She was prone to go "exploring". Silly little chicken. I would LOVE for her to end up with your silkies.

So you are cleaning house of random breeds. What breeds do you plan on eventually focusing on? Lavendar orps and ameraucanas? Cochins? I've lost track of what all you have going now.

1new egg- if we meet later in the afternoon can you come play? We haven't set anything in stone yet. I'm pretty flexible. I just want to meet up with you crazy ladies (and long-suffering men).

The sun is staying up later, so we could shift the whole deal to later in the day and still have time to chat.

What do you all want to do?

Hmmm have to think about her seriously.
This year I'm really working on the Wyandotte-just love them and the Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and our meat bird then we have the Black and Blue Copper Marans..the Lav Orps are still tiny and not hatched yet so they get to eat and be loved on this year which is good..gives me time to get my others where I want them more before another project color needs attention.
Of coarse life without the fun size fluff would just be wrong so won't part with them..BBS Cochin..MF Cochin and Mottled when I find another Roo

then for fun the Silkie fluff and Sammy Ameraucana's

I am really clearing out the place..those of you that have come out several times it's like a chicken ghost town almost..ok maybe not that bad but it seems strange even to me. I still have some random pullets close to pol for sale and chicks..cute fluffy chicks

2 Pair of Buff Sussex(hopefully) that hatched in Jan and a Roo hatched in Sept and 4 of Jenski's favorite roos.. adult white laced Red Cornish.

Morning all! My ears are burning. What'd I miss?

CityGirl . . . O ye of little faith! How can you say you don't trust me with your GS cookies?? Your delicious, crunchy, chewy, delightful GS cookies?? Mmmmm cookies. . . OK I see your point. Unfortunately (for you) I seem to like the same kinds of cookies you like. I have decided a nice Australian tawny port would go very nicely with Samoas. At this point probably the only thing you can do is strike sufficient fear into my heart that I don't dare dig in to your boxes. Being a teacher, you can probably pull this off.
BTW, if you're getting rid of funky oddball silkie ladies, I do have a bit of room now. I just didn't want to bug your for girls only, since I know how hard it is to get rid of roos.

Holly, congrats on the lav Orps! I just love that breed. Very sensible and calm. What happened to all your Cornish ladies? Your pterodactyl boys must be terribly lonely.

Hey, I can see the edge of the cloud cover from here this morning, and it looks like clear skies beyond that. Hopefully you will see come clearing over your way later this morning.

I will PM you today re. cookies for ME since CityGirl doesn't seem to want to share hers. Hmph.

Looks like we have some NICE weather coming. My sun dance worked, but now my neighbors are afraid to speak to me. No sense of humor. Maybe it was the drumming.
