The Middle Tennessee Thread

ha- we were posting at the same time!

Well, she was right, she DID NOT let me leave with just one. She almost snuck three in the box, but I had to be semi-strong and left with two. Although I still need to check my son's pockets!!

Thank you!!!! You saved my poor little lonely chick and have made my kids completely fall in love with you.

And thank you for the mealworms!! I think my daughter thinks they are her pets

I love the brooders in the spare room!!

We raised our last group in the room right off the living room, I liked having them nice and close to keep and eye on and visit with. Your little silkie 4 weeks olds were a lot smaller than our Orpington and barred rocks at 4 weeks! I was glad to get them in the coop when we did, but those little silkies could have stayed indoors longer.

.

I've got these in the garage now that it's cleaned out after our move. They are doing so good and my little survivor is so happy to have two new SISTERS!

Yay, Tracyree! I just got home and got your message. Glad you found some babies to go with your little screamer. I have ameraucanas and EEs, but they are all a couple of weeks old at this point. Glad you found some smaller ones to help your tiny baby.

Have any of ya'll done the swap thing over at the Murfreesboro Co-Op?

We should do a BYC one....maybe in Sept when it isn't so hot. It would be a good way to slim down your flocks before winter. For those that hatch year round (Tisha...Holly....) maybe a good time to sell the chicks you don't want. It is a small animal sale/swap so rabbits, other poultry, supplies and such would be options as well. I don't like to brood in the house over winter...so I will bring some hatching eggs. How about it?

Just throwing out options for a different type of meet-up.

Ummm Lori I thought I told you I am turning off the bators soon as Rilly's eggs hatch. I MEAN THAT! NO chicks in the house this winter. I would love to come to the swap and will bring what I have avaliable at the time. I am selling quicker than I can hatch currently but need to go through some pens at some point and still have 2 more hatches due.

Tisha,
Okay. Didn't mean to upset you.

I may use this as an opportunity to work through and keep only the best myself. I have a batch of chicks in the house right now and some developing in the incubator!! Yep, some developing from that breeder that I went crazy for her chicks. Can't wait for the hatch.

Also got my new and last set of peacock eggs. I have never received such a pitiful box. When the PO worker at the counter says he is ashamed of the box... Well at least none were broken but I don't expect any to hatch. Sigh. Maybe next year.

I'll be ready..the exotic sale is also in Sept but I should have more than enough chicks to go around by then...I accidentally filled several baby chick cages this week...oops! I have lots of pullets 2 weeks old if anyone "needs" some Also going to have a few cute kitties..I know Anne is needing that cute little gray girl then bunnies will be ready the end of next month...lots of double mane lionheads getting cuter by the day. Can't decide if I'm going to stick the rex or the small dwarfs together for the next bunnies

I'm really watching how much that hatches out from now until mid winter..don't want to winter anything I don't need to.There are a few flocks I need to work on so those will be the one's I'm hatching..Marans Wyandotte and if my Lav Orps start laying and the roo figures out he's one

but NO hatching just to hatch something...No hatching just to hatch something...No hatching ah heck

A September meet-up would be great. I am getting a few chicks from Meyer the week of September 20 and 27th - and I want some Araucanas, Ameraucanas and Olive Egger chicks to raise with those.
