Yes,that's what I meant. The more knowledgeable you are when you go there the better the outcome seems to be or the happier you will be with what you buy.Not the place for the beginning chicken person to go though. His prices are good for hatchery stock.
I had no problems with them-I knew what he was trying to sell me wasn't what I went over for no matter what he was saying.
They have been advertising on every telephone pole they can find and CL.Recently they were showcased in the paper as well.

I'll tell the girls to do a good job for you

ARGGGGGG, Holly! How the heck is that girl laying brown eggs?! Grrrrr! Chicken genetics. Sheesh! I have no idea how this works. Mama was a barred rock. Daddy was a blue ameraucana. I thought the 50% ameraucana meant that they carried the blue gene and thus would lay green eggs. Have I misunderstood how those blue genes work? I'm so sorry she's not a green egg layer. ARG.

Overrun With Chickens and Okla-Doodle-doo do ya'll go to Elkton a lot? I LOVE that place. I have been going for 3 years or so. That is where I take my reg. Boer goats to sell, and a few Bantams.

Thank you emmalynn. I am headed out the door now to Lebanon at the fair for a show. I think I have a chance with 1 (Pretty Little Liar) of the 4 that I am taking! LOL

Will anybody have some hatching eggs for sale in the next 2-4 weeks?

I am looking for eggs for any of the following breeds to test my new incubator I am working on

Easter Eggers (blue eggs) /Olive Eggers
Ameraucanas (Any colors)
RIR
White Leghorns
Rocks any color

ANY COMBINATION of the above would be fine too!

This is a TEST hatch I don't want to spend much on the eggs in case of failure. I have never hatched before so I don't know what I am doing and I don't know what the incubator will do. I do have some eggs of my own but they would be just mutts not really worth the effort.

PM me if you have something to sell. THANKS

I also built an incubator this year. I tested mine back in May. I used 40% or higher the first 18 days ( for the humidity ), and over 70% for lockdown. I had 3/5 hatch on their own, 1 we had to take out (that was awful but it is still alive ), and one drowned in the shell. My second hatch, I did dry incubation, with no water till lockdown. After lockdown I targeted 60% and got a great hatch. 8/13 on eggs shipped to me from Arkansas in 100+ degree heat. Hope you get it right. Do you have pics of it? I'd like to see. I built mine in a little 6 dollar beer cooler, but I bought a nice big 9 dollar beer cooler to move everything over into!

One of my pullets seems to have a broken leg or foot. She will not bear weight on it at all, and it stays just curled and limp. She seems fine and doesn't seem bothered if I look at it or move it. I am thinking about trying to splint it with something. I had her isolated, but she got out and hopped away on one foot first chance she got. She just stays under a bush by the house now.
Any advice?
