So sorry

but yes Hawks will come in.We had a 12 pound rooster killed on his ramp last winter in an enclosed run-he was my best rooster by far
My daughter loved her Polish until one day it accidentally got out of the run and got lost..they can't see very well with the wild child look.

We are on bunny watch but it's like watching the pot of water

Come on baby Mini Rex

I know people think it's strange when they come out here and my free rangers can be caught by hand any time of the day...I think it's better than what I went through last night...my new RIR roo fully grown lad had never been touched by people only a net...so I had this idea to free range the RIR now they know where home is.

He didn't like the King and his Court of little roos very well..ok they tried to whoop his butt so he went out into the pasture...and so didn't all 5 of us last night trying to round him back up for bed time inside.Should have seen it..

This morning he is now a member of the coop in good standing with only stink eye from Levi and Moron

I've seen several hawks hanging around lately. So thankful for our covered run. Saw a bobcat yesterday slinking around the pond. I wish we could free range the girls, but it's just not safe here.

Anyone have a cheap/free idea for a little structure for 3 chicks to sleep in until they grow up enough to mix with the flock? They are in a brooder in the garage most of the time, and in this mini tractor for playtime. The tractor is tiny, the picture is deceiving. The penned area is only about 20"x30"

They are 4 weeks now so I'd like to get them out in the run to get the older girls used to the idea. I had originally planned on just using the mini tractor until they're big enough, but I think it's too small? I can partition off an area in the run for them, but they'll need somewhere to sleep.

Citygirl- Wellies are starting to lay. I can start collecting on Monday and do six packs until you have all you want. Let me if that sounds good. Should be pure but the Ams are in the same pen but not dancing.

Holly- how are the cochin eggs in the incubator doing?

tracy- the coop is darling. Are you going to get rid of it? If so I would be interested in it.

To everyone- HI!!! Ya'll haven't been as talkative as normal .... hope everyone is doing okay.

I finished....I think....My incubator!!!!

I am running some final test for temp and the turner, so now all I need are EGGS!!!!! Anybody???? I really want some within driving distance so I don't have the added problem of shipped eggs. Easter Eggers, Ameraucanas, Olive Eggers, RIRs try me... no bantams, or really special breeds this is a test!

That sounds great, Emmalynn. Just however many you can collect is cool. The bator is empty at the moment.

I have more roosters if you want them. I'm not sure if your contacts ever showed up. You are welcome to take these to eat or sell if you can. I am happy to split money with you if you can sell them. Win win for us both!

Donna, your incubator and turner sound wonderful. I read your description of how you put it altogether - and I am impressed! Can't wait to hear how your first hatch turns out.

Thanks! It was fun... especially when we got the turner working. Got to run to the farm today to check the temps, but I think it will be fine.

Emmalyn-I candled the eggs the other day even though Momma hen didn't like the idea..she's a Cochin so mean isn't in her just sad eyes.Every egg took so as long as nothing happens to them now it should be a good hatch..she has about 12 under those wings and Little Chick...she took it as well to help Toast out some.'

I'm down to about 30 chicks for sale and that will be all.Sold 20 yesterday so hopefully these will be gone this weekend..empty pens and empty breeding pens for a few weeks at least. It will help so I have a place to put the chicks while we put all the built in cages in the chick house..and the new bunny pens

No more portable wire cages in there soon..not soon enough.

Holly- When are they due to hatch? Widget is getting big and thinks he is a peachick or a guinea. It will be nice to have some that will fit with him later.
