well got 14 oeg mottled eggs and got 9 with 3 still to go not bad for sittin hatch! will post pics soon

OMG! Chicken math has hit me. Since I had 4 chicks arriving tomorrow from a private breeder, I thought I'd see what Meyer had available for immediate shipment. At the first of each week, they usually have extras for sale. I happened to hit their website at the right time and saw they had some breeds that weren't available yesterday. So I ordered 4 more - 2 Easter Eggers, 1 Welsummer and 1 Light Brown Leghorn - had to get a variety of egg colors! I know they're hatchery chicks - but I still wanted them. They were shipped this morning - so tomorrow or Thursday I'll be getting two shipments of 4 chicks each. Then I have hatching eggs arriving next week. If my hatch turns out well, next time there's a Middle TN swap - I'll probably have a lot to contribute!
just got 2 more that hatched.... and only lost 1 and I believe the other 2 are not going to hatch but when you get 11 out of 14 thats better than 50percent so yeah! great job for first hatch from that great hen

We even got a video of the little chickadee moving around in there and it was pretty clear!!!

Just candled today... day 14... 10th is lockdown and the 13th is day 21.
Carol just a FYI I got a pretty good flashlight from Lowes it was a taskforce that is 150 lumens and my son fitted it with the top part of a water bottle covered it in electrical tape then taped it to the flashlight and it fits the eggs perfectly!!! We even got a video of the little chickadee moving around in there and it was pretty clear!!!

Thanks for the idea for a candler - and the link. I would love some barred rock eggs - but I've already ordered enough eggs to completely fill the bator this time. I really want a BR, though - so the next time I run the incubator, I'll give you a call.
I'm really excited about your hatch. So - next Tuesday would be the beginning of the hatch? I can't wait to hear how it goes. Takes lots of pics!
