Hubby is very serious about the breeding pens. He has even been running through his head how to build them with the 8 and 10ft long pallets we have. Me I am working on a new incubator. too many little things i don't like about the one I have, like I can't get to the eggs very well and I have to open the whole top to get in. So pallets will be used for this too but the next one will be much bigger.

Anyway here are my new birds... Just yard candy to me, I don't know anything about them or what they should look like. There is plenty of room for more if I want some down the road.

Thanks for all the advise you all.

Donna I love them. That rooster looks so "Joe Cool" He even has that "you lookin at me?" look to him.

The final season of Desperate Housewives comes on tonight I am happy for somethig to take my mind off of the stress around here.

DMRippy- I had mille fleur d'uccles when I first got started. I loved them! They are the cutest things ever. Sadly, mine were had hateful personalities. They were hatchery birds though. I kept them forever even though the rooster drew blood every time I got near him. I finally sold them. Sigh. I sometimes miss their little polka dotty selves. Post TONS of pictures of yours so I can live vicariously.

He seems kinda hateful we will see. They don't sound like my other chickens. Kinda funky sounding... just new I guess. I will have babies and eggs down the road

When do they start laying???? the girls are pink really pink just not red yet. Their momma had started another clutch and was not moving while we netted these baby girls

Your girls look young. They should round out some and get a lot more spots. They add spots with the last adult molt. Your boy might fill out some more too and add more spots. The older mine got the spottier they seemed to be .

My girls were quiet and skittish. Most were hen raised though. That would explain it. I ruined the rooster when he was a baby. He was one of my first roosters and I didn't know that you weren't supposed to baby them. I held him and loved all over him. He was sweet as pie until he hit adolescence. Then he turned hateful. Little wretch. He certainly thought he was the alpha boy around here. He wasn't scared of anything. Little snot. He was stinkin' adorable though.

Walked out for the 6th time tonight to check on the chickens and the trap and.......................

a young possum is in the trap. I will keep setting this trap I am not 100% he is what go my baby, but the size of the hole is right for this thing to be the culprit.
