Got back from Clanton show yesterday- all birds placed 1st at least once and often twice as it was a double show (it was really a triple show but we didn't go down on Friday night). Many got BV, BB, and the goose went Champion Reserve Waterfowl. Not a bad day at all.

Congratulations!!!!!! That is Wonderful!!!!

QUESTION...... I have 3 good layers, they are not molting not even a year old until next March. All of a sudden 2 of them have stopped laying the Rhode Island Red and the Dominique....my Copper Blue Maran is still laying pretty much one a day. Why would the others stop all of a sudden. No changes, weather isn't that cold and has recently warmed up again. All are in great health.....any ideas? I expected them to slow down in the fall but not stop completely until closer to winter.

The days are getting shorter and they could start molting. Sometimes new layers will lay a few and stop.... for weeks even and then start back up. My guess is it is the light and they are going to molt... they Marans might soon follow. It would probably be a light molt since they are young but who knows. Everyone grows them out and can't wait for them to start laying only to find they start about the time we get less day light and they stop. I like my fall hatches so they are laying in the spring and then I hatch the ones from spring to make up for the ones in molt..... kinda keeps me in eggs year round

My Swedish Flower Hen flock has stopped laying, too. They were hatched last January 1st - so they're under a year old. All the other breeds are still going strong. So far - it has lasted just a couple weeks - and one SFH has laid three eggs over the past two weeks - but the rest - nothing. Hopefully - yours and mine will both start laying again soon.
