I'm back at work today,and glad I read this when I was by myself.

I had 6 eggs under hens. When I first found the eggs, one had a crack across the end. I tried to be crafty like so many of these BYC ladies and put wax on the crack to seal it. It worked for a while. When the hen was out today, I was checking the eggs and found the cracked one was rotten. I cracked it open and had an almost fully developed chick, dead. Apparently bacteria got to it despite my efforts. Sunday is day 21. I fully expect them to start hatching tomorrow. They always do.

I heard a baby chirping when I closed the BCs up tonight. I couldn’t tell which nest but no heads were peeping out. I bet I see some little heads in the morning.
