Ugh. Just so much ugh.

Lol, ya I'm not a fan of that type of stuff but the kid likes it and I worry more about him eating then myself.
It's bearable but yesterday's was so blah. No taste.
Regular bacon has me pissed off. It's so expensive now that I only buy it when I catch a sale. With that though it's always the new 12oz package instead of the old 16oz. I always let the boy eat what he can or wants then I eat whatever is left. With the smaller packages I'm getting like 3 or 4 pcs if I'm lucky.

Yes! We used to buy the thick-sliced stuff from the deli now I look for sales on anything that’s actually thick-sliced. Don’t get me started on beef I am about one grocery trip from buying an actual cow.

You wouldn't believe how many times I've saw calves loose on the backroads on my way to work.
Would it be wrong if one just so happened to follow me home and I ate it? I mean I couldn't be for certain that it wasn't dumped.

It would also be a good excuse to hunt up another freezer.
Speaking of I saw a good looking non-working free medium sized one listed late Thursday night. That should tell you how bad I felt Friday when I didn't even go get it

There is a story my parents used to tell about a buddy of theirs: his wife sent him out with a rifle and told him not to come home without dinner. As he was driving along he either hit a cow or came across a recently deceased cow on the road. Either way, the cow was dead and he was standing there looking at it thinking about his wife’s ultimatum when a state trooper happened along and asked “is that your cow?” The guy said, “well, whose cow do ya think it is?!”

Yes, a lot of products got smaller with the shrinkflation, and then the price went up on that.

Yes everything is so expensive! I like to go to the grocery store early in the mornings when I get off work and catch meat on sale. I buy a bunch and vacuum seal it and put it in the deep freezer. On my days off work, I cook what my husband and son wants. So we eat a lot of pork chops, soup beans and cornbread, deer stew, and things like that. I like to make enough so they have leftovers for the next day, and I will eat whatever. I was raised really poor, like commodity cheese and food bank poor (was very grateful for it), so I don't mind living on scraps. My husband works at the elementary school where my son used to go, and he has made friends with the lunch ladies, so I eat a lot of leftover cafeteria food through the week. lol He also brings a ton of scraps home to the dogs and chickens/turkeys, so that is a nice benefit to him working there.

My son butchered 3 roosters today almost completely by himself. 2 more to do tomorrow. Still a lot more to cull through but that is a start.

The dogs were happy with their chicken legs!

This is “The Block.” My husband carved the words with a chainsaw back in the summer. lol
