Red Anconas? To me it almost looks like red over black mottled, then bred together to get mottled birds with leakage. The pheomelanin (red) resembles a birchen pattern, but not in all the birds. Instead, it looks like leakage that is simply reduced to the sex feathers.

Those birds are brown reds (gold birchen) with mottling.

Yes I thought so too about them being red Ancona is but then I saw the picture of the rooster with the reddish breast and thought maybe there's something else going on there

The seem to be Legit Brown Red with Mottling.. Leaky Blacks E/eWh Co/co+ can look very similar to birchen but they are much darker
