The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Update....
Miserable here. Been upper 90s. Breaking 100° today.
Outdoor work has been tiring.
I've been losing some chicks. Too hot even without any lights.
Expect hatch rates to go down with fresh eggs being in this heat.
Wood prices are ridiculous so a lot of plans on hold.

Dude tell me about it.
I have most of my runs between mango and avocado tree rows and the shade helps, but I still see a few with their mouths open.
I was short a sheet of plywood for a coop and went back to H. Depot to pick it up...I paid $17.58 for it two weeks earlier, now it's $57.89...Jeezuz.:he

2 X 4 x 8's $2.48 to $6.25
What the Freud

So in your opinion, would you say that, that hen is an outlier from a standpoint regarding type or maybe they brought in say, a Speckled Sussex or similar to achieve that pattern then try to breed back to Leghorn type?
IDK.
I've seen so many MFs that look like that.
Their type has major issues.
Honestly they have tons of issues.
She has a decent pattern so if she happens to lay white eggs I'd take her to work with.
I have yet to find any that wouldn't need to be crossed with another variety to be decent.

A few are weak and I had 6 dead in the hatchers.
I'm blaming that on the heat too.
Probably be the last week of putting exchequer eggs in the incubator.
Or at least pure exchequer. 🤔
